Whom the Gods Would Destroy -- Obama takes on the Catholic Church

If the Obammunist can go after the First Amendment in such a blatant and arrogant manner, imagine what he could do to the Second Amendment if he had another term?

Whom the Gods Would Destroy, by J.R. Dunn

It seems that Obama, in a classic act of hubris, has created the means of his own destruction. Through his great historical contribution, his health care bill, he has struck what was surely intended to be a lethal blow against the oldest organization on earth -- an organization with something on the order of a billion members, with a cadre of hundreds of thousands of highly trained and dedicated personnel, and a history of overcoming political threats that make Obama look like a kindergartner.

I'm referring, of course, to the Catholic Church. Now, I don't mean that the Archangel Gabriel will appear out of the East to scourge the administration with a blazing sword, though I would pay to see that. What I'm saying is that Obama has at last taken the step that we all knew he had in him, the ultimate act of arrogance and contempt that will bring the forces of history down upon him.

He promised that he would transform America. There are people still not convinced that their second amendment rights are not going to be attacked if BHO gets re-elected. There will be an all out assault on the 2nd A as well as the Constitution completely trampled on and done away with. Some on this forum still do not understand the danger of BHO making more communist appointments to the SC, and the consequences of those appointments. From what I have witnessed the last three years, I can't imagine what America will be like if there is 4 more years of BHO.

my catholic father in law ate lunch with us today and said the service today was blasting the government's meddling in religion. I am very happy the catholic church has finally stopped rolling over. For years, Catholics and many other religions like Presbyterians ( I go to a Presbyterian church) has started to cozy up to the progressive agenda. Glad to see that the church has begun to see that capitulation to government will drive them out of existence because with government, religion is their biggest obstacle and in every civilization, once society has "evolved" and sophisticated religion begins to be dissolved and society blindly falls

This could be a blessing in disguise though. If it were, to say...unify Christians across many differing doctrines to rally them to a single cause, it could be a VERY good thing.

I think it will have a unifying effect. The Jews have

been stomped on by Obama, now the Catholics.

It's easy for me to see Christians uniting against

him, except the posers like that kook he went to

in Chicago, the good Jeremiah Wright type of so-

called Christian. Of course there are many around

here that don't care, even if their ass is saved by

them. I think most Christians are for supporting

Israel with it's problems, I know I am. the threat

is very similar. Interesting symbolism in the Bible,

also, that may be pointing to what's happening

right now.

Not sure how I feel about this one. My wife is on birth control pills, which really help her with some issues (she couldnt have a kid no matter what) and the idiotic catholic hospital here will not allow her to take them when she is in there (yes, it is a no brainer to smuggle them in, but that is aside from the point). Yes, she could go to a different hospital... which does not have the specialist she needs to see. When a pointless stance (again, she cannot have kids anyway) is enforced in a case like ours, I find myself siding with obama. If the good Lord wants to circumvent her defective hardware and provide a child, I am absolutely 100% certain HE can bypss the pill as well, and we can leave the arrogant nurses out of it.

On the other hand, personal issues aside, Obama should have more important things to do right about now. I cannot think of any reason for him to be messing with this subject at this time given the many important things that are going on in our country. Abortion and birth control can be put on a shelf until people have jobs and stuff.

Classic misdirection tactic. Get the populus focused a completely differnt issue, then attack another thru subtrufuge and smokescreens.

Didn't say it was his decision. Could be those "Unknown Big Interest Backers" we always hear about pulling those little puppet strings. :stir:

There are some stories out there about BHO's 2nd term plan and about going after gun owners next.

All I can say is that there never has been a incumbent president win a 2nd term who has less than 50% approval rating, BHO is at 47%. I hope this remains true.

Everything he's involved in has gotten worse, surely he can't possibly win again.

You're just whistling past the graveyard. Most polls indicate too close to call with any of the GOP opponents still in. Maybe it'll change once all the Republicans quit the hissy fits and it's only Romney or Obama.

Like everyone else here, I don't know and it should probably stay that way about what you are referring to

about your wife. There are situations, even in the Catholic church, that could allow for a drug, that otherwise

would be on a ban by their doctrine, to be used in a different situation. Hormones are hormones. I'm saddened

by your situation and understand this frustration.

At the same time, the Catholic church has a right to refuse certain types of services based on their doctrine,

like any religious organization. It's hard to reconcile, especially if it directly affects you, but there has to be a

line drawn between what a government can and can't do, and this isn't one the government should control.

If it does succeed, it will bring every Catholic hospital and likely other charity work down. My wife works at a

Catholic hospital. They quit delivering babies a long time ago, and I imagine it had to do with other types of

OB services. I am not Catholic and don't agree with everything they do, either, but I respect the situation.

All in all, the Affordable Health Care Act will render so many services that are hijacked by the government

to be unavailable in most cases and will be allowed only after patients will have waited until it is too late so

that the patient will not benefit if they receive any medical care at all. That is the case in Canada and in

Great Britain and it is proven to minimalize service that most enjoy at this time in the US.

I'm so sorry to hear of your situation.

I agree with that, the govt does not need to be involved in this. That is why I said I am torn on it... I could do with the policy being fixed, but do not want government behind it. My situation is not that bad; as I said its a no brainer to smuggle in the pills. But it should not have to be that way.
