something to do with the two yankees in the bar and that there is a reason Nebraska is called a flyover state.

Remember when Rick blasted those 2 pricks in the bar? They were talking about going to Nebraska. That's my guess.

Ah, saw episode twice, but forgot that, thankee. Y'all know more than anywhere Googling for it!

They mentioned that it had few people and lots of guns so the hope was that it might be a safe area.

Huh. So if I die and am judged a passing grade, I'm going to Nebraska? I'm strangely happy at the thought.

My question is, why did the arm fall off? They used guns to kill all the Walkers. They didn't hack any of them up, except the Mom who got a sycle through the head, not the arms. The arm was attached to the Walker when it got shot.

Maybe I'm over thinking it.

or maybe it was a bit of humor mixed in

Rick has been determined to go to Ft Benning, and I think those two guys said rumor was Benning had been overrun. I wonder if that info will change Rick's plan. I can't see the logic in heading for Nebraska, but it might be a risk to head for Benning now.

If low population would do the trick, might as well traverse Nebraska and settle in Wyoming. Nebraska might as well be overpopulated compared to Wyoming. Though North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana are only slightly more populated than Wyoming.

Any of those places, you could dress up in yer best winter gear and travel town to town, house to house, whacking frozen zombies in the head. The frozen noggins would shatter like glass. Brrrr. Perhaps better eaten by zombies than live thru those winters.

To reach the frozen promised land, would traverse or bypass numerous zombie infested cities. Which would be the safest route?

-- Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas redneck zombies?

-- Chattanooga and Memphis zombies (followed by Arkansas and Missouri zombies)?

-- Illinois liberal commie zombies?

I bet they would kill for a HAM radio and good antenea right about now (assuming there is anyone left to talk to). Would be helpful to know how widespread the carnage is.

I think I have a new respect for Rick. Did anyone notice him putting the empty brass in his shirt pocket??? Does this mean he's a reloader? There's not enough time in the show and they don't want to lose their target audience, so they'll never show it, but I think Rick has a Lee Loader or even a Lee hand presstucked away in his things. Go Rick. Now if I could just see him by the fire casting a few bullets he'd truely be my hero!

It is diverging drastically from the "graphic novels" but so far is a very good alternate plot.

As was mentioned by someone quite awhile ago--

- Shane was long dead by now

- Daryl wasn't in the original

- They never visited the CDC in the comics

- It should have been winter long before now

- Several characters have not made appearance as they should have by now

And several other things.

Am guessing that some of the scenes in the comics were "too big for budget" so they are having to do similar stuff with whatever budget is available.

I think folks are being too hard on Glenn. He is a normal person, not a cop or a seasoned killer. Plus Rick moved so fast it would have been hard for Glenn to take the lead. As mentioned, he prefers stealth.

I like the new Rick.

Many characters that are dead aren't at this point in the comics, many characters that are still alive aren't in the comics.

I think we can expect a clean break from the comics and a new story with their characters.

I don't think Rick was picking up brass, I think Rick was picking up unspent rounds. I could be counting wrong, but I only counted four or five shots before his reload. It would make sense that he was picking up unspent rounds.

As far as the extra drama of the show, sure, for those of us that are used to run and gun zombie movies, it makes it a bit tedious at times. However I appreciate it as it shows the trials that would come with the post apocalyptic world. The inter-character drama is interesting and leads to character development that is not available in a two hour zombie flick.

As another fan of both the comic and the show, it's interesting to see the divergence. They're obviously using the storylines from the comic as a broad outline of where to take things, but that's about it. I wonder if they'll have the budget to do the prison storyline?

Man, that zombie slicing his face off on the windshield made even me cringe! Good to see that the pace is picking up though. I think Shane is about to buy the farm though. He's slipping into madness and may snap at any moment and try to run off with Lori and Carl and force Rick's hand. That or Carl will take business into his own hands like his comic self did.

Hmm, I'll have to watch that again, I swear I heard the hollow *tink* of empty brass.

i think Rick is getting ready to set Shane straight. The previews for next week he had that look in his eye when Lori was telling him about Shane.

Was wondering the same thing. The CDC episodes must have been at least relatively expensive and the prison would be "Spartacus cast of thousands" compared to the CDC episodes. Wonder if they are gonna "low budget" the same overall plot with a standoff at the farm? Maybe the governor leads the bunch they encountered in the town?

I think I remember hearing the director that got ousted saying at least he got to direct the prison episodes so hopefully that means it'll be in there. Whether it's gonna be this season or not is another question.

Yeah, that window zombie was nasty.

Will be interesting to see what eventually transpires with Shane.

Glenn... one of the few women left in civilization wants him and he pushes her away??? I would have chosen differently.

Same guy did the sound effects as set Rick's revolver up to rotate the cylinder maybe? :)

But I though he used a speed loader and was just grabbing the couple good rounds.

And I agree with Murgatroy on Glenn. Normal guy who has no problem with zombies, but shooting people is not in his comfort zone.

@Batman I think you missed the point. He froze because he was worried about her if he died. So now he worries he will get someone killed. So he's questioning whether a relationship with her is worth that risk.

I caught that part of it, but I still wouldn't push the ladies away. Maybe he just needs to learn to focus on the task at hand

Well he is young....I know I wasn't exactly smooth at that age. Not that I am now either, as the wife never fails to remind me ;)

Haha, a few more nights alone out in the tent, and I'm sure Glenn will come to his senses, lol

I suspect that the show is trying to match the emotional impact of the comic. A story in film or video can't really match a story on the page. If you're trying to be faithful to the flow of the comic you have to jettison a lot of the narrative. IF you want to be faithful to the narrative you will lose a lot of emotional impact. Different mediums and all.

I'm thinking there might be a plot twist with the guy they pulled off the fence. Maybe he goes with Rick and Shane to be dropped off wherever but ends up killing Shane. Since Rick technically saved him. The reason though that I'm wondering that is because it shows Rick leaning over someone covered in blood, and getting into a fight with Shane in the commercial.
