(Silvia Carrillo, whose daughter is a sophomore at Roosevelt High, said the shooting did not seem justified.

"My son and my brother went to school here too, and nothing like this ever happened. I think this wasn't enough for him to kill the kid," she said.)

I'm glad Silvia was there to give us her very important opinion based on her superb grasp of the law.

This is a typical sheep comment who's under the impression that you can very easily shoot someone in the leg to stop them, but with out hurting them

"The officer was fortunate that he was able to defend himself," the chief said. "This officer had a secondary weapon that very likely could have saved his life."

I would say that it did save his life. Not could have saved his life.

In one of these things, when they say the campus is "locked down", are they locking the students in so they can't leave?

I believe that is what it means. Remember, it's better to "secure" the kids to keep them safe than it is to let them run.

And Sylvia will soon be able to vote.

Heaven help us all.

FRESNO, Calif. — A police officer shot and killed a 17-year-old high school student Wednesday after authorities said the teenager clubbed the officer with a baseball bat on the packed, urban campus.

<snip>

The campus was locked down for several hours as detectives combed the white school buildings and interviewed witnesses.

So they didn't "comb" the other coloured buildings?

What if the kid had not been shot, hit the cop again (possibly killing him) and then took the two guns to turn on other students? hmmm.. Maybe the stupid girl didn't think like that.

Don't tell Naifeh. I can just see a $120 fee, and 8 hrs of instruction on bat carrying.

I am in the market for an unregistered, off the grid bat. If anyone has any leads, please let me know.

AHA, All of my sons old T-ball, Little League and Youth League bats without the "LEO or MILITARY USE ONLY" stamp will certainly go up in value as the market demand explodes for preban high-cap bats. Forget oil company stocks, I'm going to corner the market on bats.

Of course, I also blame the officer for not knowing that the first rule for going to a bat fight is to bring a bat.
Damn Saturday night specials. :)
Well, being in Kalifornia, he could only swing the bat 10 times anyway.

How did I miss this thread? There are some real home runs in here! :P
