Golf Ball Launcher for an AR 15

Anyone have any experience with one of those golf ball launchers for ar's? I ordered on the other day because they had a really good price. I was wondering if regular blanks work the same, or does it need to be a blank launching round?

Just regular old blanks. Did you get a Bloom Automatic or one of the screw-on kinds?

Had one on a Yugo SKS, it was great fun.

I have never heard of this. What do they look like, a M320?

I have also not ever heard about this and would like to know more, it sounds like having such a thing would be a lot of good fun.

Thanks Batman, it seems that I now have yet another "gotta get" item. It does sound and look like it would be a blast to play with.

I have one. Bought it at the gun show. It screws on. Uses regular blanks. Will shoot a golf ball a lot further than Tiger Woods can hit one! Will also put a nice round hole in 1/4" plywood from 10 yards.

Sometimes the ball comes out with an odd spin on it and "hooks or slices". I'm thinking that a piece of duct tape inside the tube could cause it to spin the way I want it to. A back spin would give more altitude and distance, while a topspin makes it dive and gets a lot of ground roll.

In all, a lot of fun!

The screw on kind, got it off Cheaperthandirt for 20 bucks plus shipping. I decided to get one after a friend of mine and I were talking about them. Anyone up for some golf? Thought it would be a fun range toy for the money.

I found that a wad of crumpled up paper of some kind will hold the ball in long enough if you want to shoot it horizontal.

What I would really like though is a grenade launching spigot for the ar, saw a video of a guy shooting a tennis ball off a blank WWII dummy grenade, or rather it was attached to the dummy grenade.

So the paper is acting like a sabot I take it? Is it just keeping the ball from spinning in the tube, or both?

Sounds like it just keeps the ball from rolling out the end if you get the barrel horizontal or below. The ball is a very loose fit in the tube. It will roll out if you lower the barrel.

Why am I seeing a new redneck sport evolving from this?

Can you see their faces at Belle Meade Country Club if you showed up with one?

I'm in. Or you could put buckets at different ranges and try to land it in them, like 5 gallon buckets or something. Even better, build a flash suppressor that acts as a putter.

As I was driving from Knoxville to Monteagle tonight I realized that if you got the tennis ball launching one, you could make a giant sabot and then put a cornhole beanbag in it. Then set the board up a ways away and play extreme cornhole. Just another thought since we were on the sports thoughts.

I have had this item saved in my Amazon wish list for quite a while but didn't know what I would do with it. Thanks for helping realize that I really do NEED one of these! I knew there had to be a "sport" for it

Hmm, good thing to keep in mind. Maybe not as good as the Noveske Pig, but a lot cheaper. Does it launch the golf balls any further than on a 16" or 20" barrel?

It will launch a ball several hundred yards. Does it really matter?
