Music City Tactical Shooters - IDPA classifier 02/18/2012

Many thanks to all for a great day! My first IDPA. Shot a DA/SA in SSP in Bay 1 - everything ran smoothly - SO and helpers did a great job. Don't think we had any safety violations. I messed up Stage 2 when I stopped walking forward while shooting, and got a penalty. Fortunately, the allowed re-do at the end erased it. I paid my club dues yesterday and joined IDPA online as well - looking forward to enhancing my skills this year (and they really need enhancing!). Thanks again!

For your first time out you did great Kevin. The walking while shooting this isn't something most people are used to doing. You came back and did great the second time around. Look forward to seeing you on the range again.

It is a lot more challenging than standing there shooting at a target. And a lot more fun.

Our regular matches will have up to nine targets and three "No-Shoot" targets in one stage. Usually we have five stages. 18 rounds max per stage. Moving targets--up-downs, swingers, out and backs and drop turners. Some steel "poppers" and head plates. Challenging stages that will test your skills as much as a game can.

First time to competition shooters that are safe and know their pistol are welcome at every local match we hold.

Considering I haven't been to MCTS in a LONG time, was very good to be back out despite the poor performance; although I think I was able to keep a classification (miracles do exist). Had fun and looking to not be gone for so long.

It was a very fun day. 1 mental mistake and a fumbled reload kept me out of master - oh well. I have to hit the dry fire hard again and get used to the skinny mags. Thanks to MCTS for putting on the match and for the many shooters that decided to take the risk and come out under uncertain weather conditions. This is a great sport with many great people - no better in the world IMHO.

Thanks to the MCTS members and SO's for a fun classifier match. Any match put on by the folks at MCTS is always first class.

And welcome to all the new shooters who showed up Saturday. It's great to see new faces at every match, and to watch the sport grow.

Thank you for the kind words. We take pride in our matches and shooting our local events will prepare anyone for sanctioned events. We are always looking for active and safe members to help our effort. Without it, any club will become stale!
