It was just over three months for me. After about the first two weeks you should start calling the phone number on the .gov website to inquire about the status of your application. When I finally called to find out the reason for the delay they told me my application had been approved but had just gotten lost in the system. After that, got the permit in about a week.

i got fingerprinted on 1/20 and received my permit on 2/4

Yep, I got mine last month and it was 2 weeks. Read on another thread of someone getting theirs in 13 days. They must not be too busy now.

a few years ago (election time) it took dam near forever. From what i hear, things have improved. I suspect it will slow down again in the near future. IT seems to spike around election time

I waited three months before I called. After I called, the permit arrived the same week. If the permit doesn't arrive in three weeks, I'd call to inquire.
