Excitement at work tonight

It was pretty busy at work tonight, with the huge gun sale we've got going on, and I'm running back and forth talking to people and showing them different guns, when I happen to hear something through my headset about the sheriffs office being on the phone. I don't hear anything about it and didn't give it anymore thought. A few minutes later I see a couple PO's walking through the store, so I figure they caught someone stealing. Happens often enough. After we close I asked one of our managers about it and to my surprise, it wasn't a theif they were after. Turns out this 20ish guy was in the mens restroom taking pictures of a little boy from under and over the stall walls! The boy went and told his parents, who in turn told a manager. The manager went and found the guy, asked him to come with him to answer a few questions, and locked him in our DM's office until the police got there! That is totally against policy, but I for one gave him a pat on the back for not letting him get away. The police came, and when I left around an hour later, they were still in the parking lot, with him in the back seat. Hopefully this pervert will get to spend some quality time behind bars.

Somtimes rules/policy needs to be broken, that is one thing I would risk my job for every time. Not to mention imagine the media coverage for that one if you did lose your job. To paraphrase Mr. Rogers “can you say corporate suicide?”

I agree it's a stupid policy, but you aren't supposed to try to stop or apprehend anyone. Doesn't matter if it's for theft, being a sick pervert, or whatever. It's not a "gun shop" per se, I work at Gander Mtn. But we do sell more guns than anything else, and it's really unbelieveable how many guns we sell.

yes it is. Especially after seeing the prices on handguns at Gander Mtn.

I've seen guns in your used case that are priced higher than most stores charge for a new one.

But getting back on topic I'm glad your manager did the right thing. Good for him!

Glad he did what he did. I did my time in corporate retail. Your manager will likely be job hunting soon. Corporations have no backbone whatsoever, it's all about making sure no one gets their feelings hurt and the company makes as much money as possible. I wish your manager the best through this situation.
