The new Rock River polymer 1911 comes in at a projected price point of around $800, which will put it in competition with guns from well established makers in the less than custom bracket, on guns that don’t have some of the refinements found on this gun. This 1911 will raise the bar for those others, if they want to compete at this price. If Rock River keeps to their reputation, this gun will fly off the shelves and be one of those, “Yeah, I ordered mine because they’re not in stock,†kind of guns.

$800 for a plastic 1911? I don't see that "flying off the shelves" when you can get a very nice 1911 for that money.

Atleast with an all steel 1911 or whatever other alloy, we can effectively pistol whip "objects". Try that with the poly 1911, just gonna piss it off :(

Wilson Combat had the KZ for many years, a plastic full size 10 1911. it looked and shot well.

now the colt 1991 had a lot of plastic like the trigger etc, it was aweful, to me anyway. luckly the were not on the market every long.

HK already makes a polymer 1911 - it's called the USP45. It's the closest polymer gun conceptually to a 1911 without bastardizing the 1911 platform.

Quote from 1967 "The Graduate": "Plastics"

I want to see this thing in my hand. What I would be interested in is how the frame flex in this design may or may not affect accuracy. I am interested in how the trigger bow would feel sliding through polymer. I would also like to see how the rails hold up using lighter faster ammo. I am curious how the safety and plunger tube will work over time.

I don't expect to see one for a long long time.
