Range USA here in Memphis. I work there so I'm biased, but I'll say this as a fact, we sure do get alot of RangeMaster's customers. Our instructors are top notch and all are law enforcement or ex-military. Great atmosphere and several classes to offer. www.rangeusa.com

Most of the training I have received has been out of state (Thunder Ranch and a few other places), but IN Tennessee, I've taken a class at RangeMaster, which I enjoyed, and I took the NRA Law Enforcement Instructor Course at the Memphis Police Academy. I took a Remington Armorer's Course at Personal Protection in Nashville.

I want to look at several more of the Tennessee offerings, such as Tactical Response, RangeUSA, etc., and I will decide accordingly. I spend my time day in and day out training OTHER folks (Law Enforcement), but I like to take at least one class a year, just for the opportunity to 'be a student'.

The next class I will be taking will be at the end of April, first week of May, in St. Louis, MO. It is the S&W Academy Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor Recertification.

By this spring, I'm going to be doing personal instruction (outside of LE), but I intend that to be one on one, or very small groups.

Yeah, the owner of HGR has a photography biz on the side. He's tried to combine his two loves into one.

You guys do great work out there from what I hear. Keep it up. The more people who are safe and competent, the better.

I plan to. You guys do some interesting stuff out there. I'd like to do Fighting Pistol Primer, then Fighting Pistol, then go from there. I keep an eye on your website.

James:

That is EXTREMELY nice of you! Thanks! I have checked your website and see potential weekends for me in March, April, May and June that could work for me. I'll email you when I get it nailed down.

Thanks again.

Friday before last I received 4 hours of one on one instruction from Tommy Ferguson at RangeUSA. Then Saturday I took the carry permit class at RangeUSA with a buddy that lives near Memphis. It was absolutely the best store/range/training experience I have ever had. I experienced NONE of the usual elitist attitude I've experienced in other gun stores and ranges. Mr. Ferguson was a fantastic trainer. I chose him because he'd been to all the schools and classes I would like to attend, if I had the time and money. Taking a class one on one allowed me to go as far as I could in the time I had, and I feel much more confident in my ability to protect my family and myself if confronted with violent intent. The Carry Permit class which could have easily been 8 hours of VERY dry material was kept entertaining and informative by the instructor Chip Holland. I highly recommend RangeUSA, I feel I got much more than my moneys worth and it was well worth the trip from Nashville.

If anyone is looking for good training in both basic practical and advanced defensive handgunning courses, as well as rifle and shotgun courses, I might suggest Austin's Tennessee Firearms Training School in Oak Ridge (just west of Knoxville). This is not a gun store so the instructors and staff don't sell guns, ammo, leather or other accessories. NRA, TN Dpt of Safety and POST Certified instructors on staff. The website is http://firearmsclasses.com and the contact information is-

969 Oak Ridge Turnpike #227 Oak Ridge, TN 37830-8832

Training for Safety, Self Defense and Sport. Don't settle for the training that comes in the box.

I teach classes for Suarez International offering them in Chattanooga. I teach The Defensive Pistol Skills, Close Range Gunfighting, Defensive Rifle Skills, and Shotgun Gunfighting classes. Class descriptions and sign up info available at www.suarezinternational.com

I am also hosting Tom Givens from Rangemaster for his Dynamic Marksmanship class June 30/July1 (sign up through www.rangemaster.com) and Sonny Puzikas is coming in October to do the Kalashnikov Gunfighting class on Oct 6 and 7.

I use a private range just across the border in Ringgold Ga. It has 6 side by side shooting bays 30 yards deep by 20 yards across divided by berms on the sides and a berm downrange. I also teach the Tennessee CCW class at Sportsman's Supply in Hixson Tn.
