No. They have shooting benches. You can shoot from the bench or stand. The RSO's are good people. They're all shooters. It's just probably the busiest range in the state, so they have to keep their arms around things. I'm on my third annual membership, and they've never pissed me off. You can't beat the facilities.

Sounds good.

By 'bad experiences' I mean from other shooters that don't know/follow basic safety.

I was on a Range and got swept by a Laser Sight...not happy.

Will consider doing an Annual membership.

I'm guessing you can find less busy times on morning/weekdays which I can do

thanks,

Went there for the 1st time Sat. Strict but everyone was very polite and explained everything clearly. I'm only 15 minutes away so i'll be there often from here on. When I want more freedom and a hundred yard range, i'll continue going to CHMR. I just hate that drive.

I like Stones River for ordinary target shooting. Been going there for a few years now. Seems like there is ALWAYS a wait for the rifle range. The RSO's can be vigilant, and there have been times I've gotten annoyed. However, I appreciate their efforts and it is nice to know that someone else is watching the other shooters while I am shooting. By the nature of the range and who goes there, they need strict safety rules.

At the same time, I've wanted to do some other types of shooting Stones River prohibits (prone rifle, shotgun at stationary targets, etc.) and am thinking about checking out CHMR.

The check station is a huge pain if you have a lot of stuff. I like Montgomery County a lot, but have been there when I couldn't get a lane on the rifle side. It's a serious drive too.

I don't shoot as much as I used to or would like to, but I've never had to wait for a lane at Montgomery Co. I'm on the west side of Nashville so the drive isn't bad, doesn't take me any longer to get there via back roads and hwy 49 than it does to get to Stones River.

I probably should just let it go, but i was highly annoyed when an RSO at Stones River jumped my **** because of rapid fire on the rifle range. All my shots were on target and hitting the berm.
