While writing my House Rep about the parking lot bills I noticed he has sponsored a good TWRA bill.

HB2767 Keisling / SB3342 Ketron

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - As introduced, requires any shooting range on lands managed by the agency to be open to access and use during normal business hours to all persons possessing a Tennessee hunting license. - Amends TCA Section 38-8-116 and Title 70.

Ask your legislators to support this one too.

I don't get it. Does TN have a lot of TWRA ranges that do not allow access to people?

If so, what makes those with hunting licenses special?

Some of the TWRA ranges are shut down during certain hunts (maybe some due to WMA access control, others due to safety issues during the hunts)

Does it expand their hours if you have a hunting license or what?

Knox Co. one is only open 4 days per week, 5 hours each day. For anybody.

Yes, I am aware of that and also aware of maintenance days.

Still doesn't explain the reason for this bill. TWRA is not going to open ranges if hunters or rangers are down range.

TCA Section 38-8-116 deals with ranges used by LE including those located on TWRA lands. They currently can be closed to the public, and this will change that. This isn't just about ranges closed during hunts.
