What do you need done?

As far as I can figure, some stuff is done in house at Carters, and Sportsman's supply, and some stuff is picked up by a third party.

For nashville:

The gun/pawn shop in Gallitan (Len knows the name) has a gun smith on site who (from what I've been told) builds the Uselton Arms 1911s.

Guns and Leather in Greenbrier now has a gunsmith on site.

Complete Gun Shop

308 S Water Ave

Gallatin, TN 37066

(615) 206-0075

His name is Sam. He does build Uselton 1911's. He refinished a really jacked up

double barrel for me. It came out like new. His turn around for me was less than a week.

Sam is actually my gunsmith as well, so if you want you can drop it off at my store and he will get to it the same week. He is the best 1911 guy here in Tennessee.

Bob Randolph at The Gun Works, in Cleveland does nice 1911 work. In Chattanooga, J.D. Donohue is still working in guns, he can be reached through the Ammo Dump, on Hwy. 58

Jeff Walle at Specialty Arms.He has forgot more than most smiths know about 1911s.Also a IPSC/USPSA Master shooter as well,so he knows what has to be done to make them run right.

Are you saying his "Largeness" Greg O'Neal is no longer working on guns?.:koolaid:

Jeff has been up and running at Guns and Leather for about a month now. I just had him do some trigger work on a Hi-Power for me. Excellent work at a good price. Great guy too.

Bob Delmore here at CCA is your man. He's currently doing a .45acp to .357sig conversion that will group 2.5" groups and he is also the guy who builds our actual 1911 pistols. I'd put his work against any of the big name custom 1911 makers in the business, Brown, Wilson, Yost, Baer without any hesitation.

I too have used Jeff. He is very knowledgeable and is a Master Comp. Shooter as well. He has done some great work on my 1911 and will take your weapons and do wonders on them. Guns And Leather (Dennis and the guys/gals) charge good prices for great work.

Go to http://www.gunsandleather.com/ for somemore info.

Besides Jeff being a great 'smith, he has great sense of humor. He will also take the time to explain what needs to be done and will offer up some help verbally if needed.

Take Care All,

MTS

That's a very bold statement to make, considering the company you just listed.

Not saying it isn't possibly true... as most of the top 'smiths nowadays have the same skill level and only vary by their reputation and length of time performing their craft... and I also realize that many of these top gunsmiths have taken on more of a supervisory role, and actually have employees under them performing the craft. But anyone can easily make the claim that they're just as good as the other guy, yet never really achieve that status.

Do you have any examples of his work, that would rival the custom works of art that can be found in the others' portfolios? Background on Bob Delmore and his accreditations? I've never heard of him before, and I'm sure others haven't as well.

Please don't be offended by my inquiry or comments. I'm genuinely interested in hearing more about Mr. Delmore and seeing his work. If he is really as good as you claim, I might have to pick up one of his (your) pieces when I get back into 1911's.

2.5 inch groups? at how far?

How is that better than my Wilsons that group 1" at 25 yards?

Added:

I am 100% in favor of trying new things just for the sake of doing it, but I have to ask WHY would you want to run a 1911 in .357Sig?

Hell, Sig Sauer doesnt even like selling their pistols in that caliber anymore...

As said before, that is a VERY BOLD statement, how come this Bob Delmore is not featured in any magazines, or on Loader than Words forums? I have never heard of him and neither has google, cant say that about the other smiths that you name here

Joe,

Bob Howard at Predator Custom in Knoxville will build one at least the equal of your Wilson.

Bob did 3 carry guns for me. I sold one when I was broke, the other two were stolen. I've had a Wilson. The next high end 1911 will be built by Bob.
