Just saw this.

Cops: Man, 65, kills teen who knocks him off bicycle - US news - Crime & courts - msnbc.com

No charges are being filed against the man. The msnbc article is a bit lacking in info, but if you click the links within they gives a bit more detail on the shooting. Its really unfortunate that this had to happen, but when you take on a life of crime, you get what you get.

I hate to think about what would have happened to the man if he wasn't armed. We might have been reading a news article about a man beaten to death and unknown suspects at large...

Choot-em!

Seriously though, what a shame, I blame their parents for not teaching them that a life a crime may cut your life VERY short.

Reading (and all of Berks County) has developed a serious gang problem over the last decade, so I'm not surprised. There are a couple of really neat places in and around the city that as a kid I had great times visiting, but it all went to heck. There are a couple areas of the city that would benefit from some remodeling by JDAM.

Well after reading this story I posted in FB that I apparently have been wrong all these years. Guns are obviously a serious threat to our children and thus we need to disarm and just let our old folks die. I mean after all, these punk *** bitches are our future!!

The same things that were wrong with them 2000 years ago. Ever hear that story about a good Samaritan? Where some fella gets beat near to death by some punks, left for dead, and someone finally comes along and helps him? Its an old story, but it shows that nothing ever really changes. People like to think back to the good old days before people beat the snot out of each other for money, but really, when was that again? People have been beating each other to death since money was invented, and before that they were going at it over a goat.

Yep. In fact, longer than 2000 years. The first evidence of interpersonal violence among humans/hominids is in the prehistoric fossil record. In other words, it didn't take long for Ug to figure out that a stone hammer that would break other rocks would do a pretty good job on Gack's skull, too.

There's a good possibility that Gack was poppin's Ug's wife. There's also a good possibility that Ug cracked the wrong head.

The man instigated the teens. This is commonly referred to as 'big gun syndrome'.If everybody was packing a weapon, we will start seeing men with puffed up chests passive aggressively instigating other people, itching for a fight.

Collect 'em and smelt 'em I say.

The teen thuggery is happening all too often.

The armed defense doesn't happen often enough.

It's time to lower the age of majority for violent crimes. Thirteen might not be too low. Try them as adults for violent crimes.

Us old farts are too stiff to run far and so have to stand and fight.

Too bad there was someone wounded, as the average citizen we will have to pay his hospital bills.

The 15 year old either learned a valuable lesson, or will continue on his route to thugdom.
