Anti-gun protest at Starbucks on Valentine's Day

From the "article" above. Just so we know what kind of "citizens" are organizing this boycott. These are the people that make Nancy Pelosi look like Rush Limbaugh.

To protect their customers and employees, all of the retail chains—except for Starbucks— banned guns from being carried in their stores.

"Starbucks allowing guns to be carried in thousands of their stores significantly increases everyone's risk of being a victim of gun violence," says Elliot Fineman, CEO of the NGAC. "Open and conceal and carry are among the reasons there are 12,000 gun homicides each year in the U.S. If we had England's gun laws we would expect 375 gun homicides each year—97% less than we have. England's gun laws are based on protecting public safety, ours on maximizing sales for the gun industry." Non-Sane Gun Laws

Guns can be carried concealed in 49 states and openly in 43 states. Guns are not registered and gun owners are not licensed. Criminals and the mentally ill can purchase guns at gun shows where background checks are not required. Known terrorists can legally buy as many guns as they want. In many states guns can be carried into the everyday places where you live your life – restaurants, offices, bars, supermarkets, schools, libraries, sporting arenas – and the list keeps growing. While I do appreciate the arguments that OC might scare Starbucks into banning firearms, as this wouldn't be the first place that has happened, I now see Valentine's day as the perfect opportunity to show Starbucks who their real customers are while the hippies are out banning them and protesting. I say we pack our local Starbucks' with OCing gun owners. Also, Lagerhead, when you said the Starbucks in Bellevue did you mean the one off 70, or 100?

Thanks for the post. I drive by them everyday, but only went in once when I won a giftcard. Not a coffee fan but like the cake. Looks like someone will get some fresh lemon pound cake for Valentine's day this year. :(

Considering that probably ten times as many gun owners know about this 'boycott' than anti-gun liberals do, I fully expect Starbucks revenues to spike on 2/14.

These turkeys are probably looking at the website visit numbers and rubbing their hands thinking about all the huge numbers of people that will be boycotting Starbucks. I doubt that they realize that 75% of the visits are from pro-gun folks. There are a lot more of us than than there are of them!

Not one bit of logic or reasoning in this video! I guess they don't realize the folks that are open carrying are contributing to the immediate security of the store.

That was nauseating. :(

I myself am not a Starbucks fan, but intend to patronize them on Feb. 14th. and let them know why I'm there. I will conceal carry as I always do.

I can't understand why the NGAC (Nashville Golf and Athletic Club) would boycott Starbucks? It just don't make any sense!

I went ahead and sent Starbucks this email:

I have recently heard about the upcoming Valentine's Day boycot of your stores by the National Gun Victims Action Council. They claim that your policy of not infringing on a person's constitutional right to bear arms endangers your clientele. However, these beliefs are not based on any factual or rational information and only serve to further endanger our constitutional freedoms. I won't waste your time quoting facts or statistics of which I'm sure you are already aware. However, I am writing this letter to let you know that I, and many other gun owners, thank you for upholding our rights as Americans and promise to continue to do business with your company. Word is spreading, not only of the boycot, but of your company's stance on our constitutional rights and the importance they have on our continued freedom as a nation. I think I speak for gun owners across the nation when I say thank you and keep up the good work!

I'm thinking this is an excellent opportunity to fill businesses with openly armed citizens, and sit back and watch, as NOBODY GETS HURT.

I have zero intent to open carry. I never do so this day won't be any different. My firearm is not a political statement, it is a self-defense tool. If I were a carpenter I wouldn't walk into Starbucks carrying a nail-gun to thank them for not banning nail-guns.

To each their own, but I'd seriously consider what message you are sending and what the reactions might be if you decide to open carry. If you spook the sheep, there could easily be corporate-wide backlash.

Well said! I totally agree. I'm going to look up the closest Starbucks to me and if one is a reasonable driving distance, I'll stop by and have a cup of Joe and be well concealed.

I just heard on the radio Starbucks is going to start serving beer and hooch in several test markets. I believe they mentioned Seattle, Chicago, L.A. and Atlanta.

Please continue.

David's right, open carry could send the wrong idea to an already intellectually challenged group of peons, BUT I was just telling the wife we may grab a cup of Joe on V/day [and i HATE coffee] I won't open carry but I think I'll wear my Midway USA hat & my favorite T shirt.

When will these anti-gun idiots ever learn that the average American, weather they own a gun or not doesn't give a rats butt weather Starbucks allows permit holders to carry in their stores. Just like all the stink over the restaurant bill, people are still enjoying a good meal at non-posted restaurants and people will have their cup of Joe at Starbucks on Valintines day. Their silly boycott is laughable.

I will certainly plan to patronize Starbucks with a very large order on Valentine's Day and spread the word to all of my gun owner friends.

Best thing in the whole thread!!

I will note that many Starbucks products are also found on grocery store shelves. I think I'll get a package of the Keurig K-cups. Easy way to contribute that day even without darkening the door of a coffeeshop.

It seems, from what I've read on other sites, that poeple are planning to spend $2 bills at Starbucks during the boycott. The $2 bill being a representation of the second amendment. It also has a lovely image of the signing of the declaration of independance of the reverse. I stopped by my bank today and bought $40 worth of $2 bills this afternoon. I plan on having breakfast, lunch and dinner there on Valentines day. Also plan on purchasing 2 of their gift cards for my sons teachers in hopes they will spend them there that day. Viva La Cafe!

I am not a Starbucks person, sorry but I feel it's the worst coffee ever. (just my opinion) However even if I just stop by and get a bottle of water it is worth doing something to support the ones that support us. I don't try to push my gun carry privilege in the faces of others that are scared of guns but if the opportunity comes around to help educated people or ease their fear of guns, I take it. First as we all know it's our right, but if more people that opposed us carrying would realize that they really are safer with more honest and responsible people carrying weapons it may make it easier on us. We should all take this opportunity to show our responsible side and if given the chance make it known to the staff or manager of the Starbucks the purpose of our visit. Remember we want to show our best and it will make the anti-gun groups negative activities stand out and really defeat their entire protest.

Will stop in and buy something to show support. Don't tell anybody I'll be CCing.
