You can’t get rid of the gangs and worry about what the NAACP or the ACLU has to say about it. If your tactics hold up in your local courts; continue on.

Problem is this is nothing more than political rhetoric since HCSO doesn't patrol the areas where most of the gang activity takes place.

I like what he said really. The problem is that his officers don't patrol the areas with gang problems for the most part. And now if one of his officers does have an armed confrontation with a gang member I hate to think about the lawsuits that would ensue after a statement like this.

True.

We could solve the gang problem swiftly if they would just declare open season on them.

Not at all surprising that the NAACP is crying foul. They couldn't exist without gangs or black poverty.

I think he is exactly right. We need to quit trying to please everybody, simply because you cant. The gang mothers and the race baters dont like this kind of message, and they are gonna squall anyway. Most people simply dont care anymore. Evidently Sheriff Hammond doesnt care whether they do or not. He is sending a message and i admire that. We need more of it. The gang and hoodlum element everywhere is way passed rehabilitation for the most part. Maybee some straight talk and a few trips to the funeral home will improve their behavior. Thank you Sheriff Hammond for telling the truth. We'll see what happens next.

Although I agree with him wholeheartedly, I wonder if this will prompt his resignation?

I fail to understand how the racists in this country have to make everything about race. Most of our prisons have a racial mix that is not consistent with our racial mix as a whole. Wonder why this is? Could it be that the racial mix that commits crimes is slanted in that direction? Hmmm...No, surely not. There MUST be some undertying racist factor that causes these poor downtrodden criminals, er, I mean people, to go wrong. Must be the SYSTEM! Yeah, thats it, its the racist system! I read about and see the gang violence in major cities and I can't help but wonder why we don't simply go to war on them. Just eradicate them.

Edited to add that I am NOT a racist, but I am a realist. No need to sugarcoat things, but let the facts speak for themselves.

Forgot about this. Check it out. A noted black elected official takin about hoodlums ---- Philadelphia mayor talks tough to black teenagers after 'flash mobs' - Washington Times .... Here's what a noted NAACP apparatchik said about the mayor's stance:

The head of Philadelphia’s chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, J. Whyatt Mondesire, said it “took courage” for Mr. Nutter to deliver the message.

“These are majority African-American youths and they need to be called on it,” Mr. Mondesire said.

Interesting read.

The only time I have ever seen a HCSD car is near the jail or on the interstate. I have never seen one in a neighborhood.

I have lived in the Brainerd and East Ridge area most of my life.

Funny how things change. i grew up in Hamilton County and I remember seeing those old black & whites all over the place. I lived in Soddy-Daisy and Hixson and as I remember, they were the only LEOs around outside of Chattanooga and Red Bank, until Soddy-Daisy incorporated and got their own police force.

Yeah, I know it's unconstitutional and barbaric, but it certainly would put the fear of God in the gangbangers if they became sport.

One of the mistakes I think people make (including those in law enforcement) is that they are going to “scare†these guys with anything. You aren’t. They are raised knowing that they are going to prison. It’s just a matter of when and for how long. The only thing you can do to break up the gangs is put them in jail.

Untie the hands of the cops, let them use the legal tools they already have, support them, and start building more prisons.

boy if that ain't the pot calling the kettle black, I sure as hell don't know what is. you're unbelievable. you chastise me for legal defense tactics that hold up in court, but when it's someone else you support the same thing you have criticized me for. WOW!

Jails don't work. Most gangs (black, aryan, hispanic, etc.) recruit from/inside jails. Scare tactics don't work because they know there are only two options... jail and death. (Let's pretend that being an honest decent citizen doesn't exist as an option for them because, you know, they are "products of their environment") With those as their options, they might as well do as they damn well please, because one of those will happen to them before they are 20 years old. As far as they are all concerned, Tony Montana had it all.

FAIL.

I know I’m wasting my time, but I don’t have anything else to do right now.

I chastised you for starting an email to a black man who is a City Councilman and a Pastor, with Hey (N-Word), filling it with ignorant rants, ending it in a threat, a signing it “Noah of Godâ€. All over something as silly as the hours at a race track and all while thinking your identity was safely protected by the internet.

Now you are here, unrepentant and even arrogant, blaming the victim, and suggesting that he had some agenda for calling the Police and suggesting that your attorney would attack his credibility.

Does that pretty much cover it? Because that is the first thing that is truly unbelievable.

The second thing that is unbelievable is that after TGO David temporally locked the thread with the accounts of your disgusting behavior, you would jump in this totally unrelated thread and attack me.

You either have serious mental issues or extreme learning disabilities to in any way shape or form tie what we are discussing here with the comments about your criminal behavior.

You are dead on!

For a couple years my family worked with an inner-city ministry in Chattanooga, if you have never done so a person would never realize that these type of poeple are actually heros to their friends and family if you have served time. How frigged-up is that mentality?? I have heard with my own ears kids as young as 6-8 talking about "when I go to jail...so and so..." They truly grow up knowing one day they will be incarcerated. All of their peers do it, so they expect it just as I expected to own a house since all my parents and friends did. I dont have the answers, but I know the issues.

if any of yall are interested in working with these folks, (not all are scumbags, but caught up in the wrong place), please PM me and I will get you in touch with them.
