2012 Severe Weather Thread

Well it's getting to be that time of year again, spring...my favorite season. Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, Hail, Lighting, Supercell Thunderstorms, and storm chasing!!! I live for it and love it!

already 1 tornado confirmed last Monday by Percy Priest Lake, and another funnel over by the Nashville Superspeedway on Monday, multiple warnings and storms hit the area Friday night.

Looks like tonight (Sunday) night, it could get nasty again after sun down. Storm Prediction Center is calling for an outbreak of severe weather in the region.

Temps in the mid 60's and dewpoints in the high 50's and low 60's, means 100% air saturation, warm and muggy, 50-60 knot lower level jet stream, ripe for tornado weather. Check them weather radios, turn on the tv or watch the radar on the internet, be alert around sun down from Memphis up through Nashville. This will affect portions of TN, AL, MS, KY, AR, IL. Primary initiations look to begin in eastern Arkansas in the late afternoon and push eastward/northeasterly through out the evening into the night. Night tornadoes are a real bear to see and extremely dangerous. You can drive right into one and not know it until it's too late.

Come sun down as the storms approach, I will be mobile about the Nashville area with the video camera and my digital camera, go have a little fun and get my adrenaline flowing!

If you are planning on watching the NFC Championship Game at 5:30 pm E.T....you can expect interruptions from the weather team in the late 3rd quarter through the 4th.

hope everyone is doing alright out there, I heard of a report of a tornado going through Dickson a while ago, and that it had been spotted on the ground. multiple warnings in effect now around the Nashville area.

I misunderstood.

amuse is not the right word. I do not likeseeing them wreak havoc on people's homes or businesses or in densely populated areas. I'm just fascinated by mother nature's power, and it is a powerful and amazing thing to witness out on the open Plains in a field where it's not destroying lives and dwellings.
