Turkey fever has set in....

BYW, my wife is expecting our first child, and it is looking like it is going to be a little girl. Can't wait to introduce her to hunting for turkeys.

Congrats! My son was born (our first) this past new years day and looking forward to taking him turkey hunting one day. Should have already been doing some scouting but am heading out early tomorrow morning rain or shine.

Congrats Miss.Boy. I have lots of great memories in the woods with my daughter. I was fortunate that she took my not-so-gentle pushing shooting and hunting on her. She enjoys turkey hunting the most. I wish for you, a child that's eager to take up the tradition.

Watched and heard the Gobbling yesterday. There was a very nice Tom Chasing to Hens around. He was in full plumage and looked beautiful. God I love Nature!

Has anyone been out and heard turkeys gobling yet?

I took my slate call out Sunday and had one gobble back at me. Didn't have a gun, just wanted to call a bit.

Thanks for all the congratulations.

I went out this morning and heard at least 5 differents birds within hunting range of my intial set-up for tomorrow. Now I hope I can get one that I want to shoot close enough. The guy I normally hunt with is wanting to get one with his crossbow this years so that is going to be fun. I like calling almost as much as I like shooting the birds. Plus my shoulder likes it more...

Good luck to all, and can't wait to see some pictures.

Got skunked this morning. Heard one gobble all morning. Had some hens come by early, but no toms. Oh well, back at them tomorrow morning early.

I usually hear a gobble or two behind the house here, but the Owls moved in and must have scared everything away. No gobbles, and my chickens and roosters were even kinda edgy....

I did my mourning round of target practice with rifle and pistol, worked on the 4 wheeler and thought about taking my daughter out and try and get some pictures of some Hoot'n Owls. I didn't hear anymore "hoot'n', so I think I may have scared them away with my shooting, so we just decided to stay at the house and listen to the screaming bikes run up and down the road in front of my house ruining my country solitude.

21 lbs, 10" beard (also with ~2" & ~4" for a triple), 3/4" spurs, opening day on the blind with Dad calling.

Earlier in the morning I called a coyote from 300 yards to 20 yards (entertainment after it ran a gobbler off that we were calling in). Will come back for him later. Wind was favorable, and he never saw us.

Here's mine again 19 pounds, thick 9 inch beard and almost and inch spurs. I called this bird for almost an hour before he came in. I was going to get video but I forgot to charge my camera from yesterday. Oh well still new at the filming thing. I will remember to bring my car charger next time. Any ways here is the turkey.

I can share a picture of some nice decoys. Heard some gobbles but nothing ever came my direction this past weekend. Out of town Easter weekend so I won't be able to get back to it until the 14th.

Went shooting at Gallatin Gun Club yesterday morning. I was leaving the parking lot and two tom turkeys with 8 inch beards were casually walking down the road 50 yards from several gentlemen shooting a lot of high power rounds. Guess they feel pretty safe being under Homeland Security protection on the TVA steam plant property.

Congrats H-101 on the bird. Closest I've gotten was running of our neighborhood gobbler this evening. Every day he gets more and more tempting....
