New to shooting revolvers

I just placed my first gun, a Smith and Wesson Pro Series Model 60 five-shot revolver on lay-a-way at a gun shop. Can't wait to get it out and spend day at range. Hoping everyone will exercise their rights to own and carry guns. We often take our freedom forganted. Hope I can learn to be accurate and prepared. Had an intruder in home recently and was not prepared. Does anyone know statistics on them coming back?

Not likely unless they made away with a million dollars in loot and were served dinner afterwards in your home ( just joking , sorry for you loss , I was robbed in my driveway 25 years ago by 2 jerks and pistol whipped in the head in front of the family ) , glad to see you are preparing to defend yourself. A revolver is a very dependable firearm , just get out and shoot it to learn the way it shoots with the way you hold it. Being a double action style of pistol you will find it to have a long pull and then a breaking point when the hammer heads towards the bullet. Practice makes perfect , and if you have any children ; keep out of harms reach. Carry On !

Man, that sucks. It depends, really, on dozens of questions that no one can answer:

1) did they leave anything worth taking to come back for?

2) do they know you?

3) are they "dumb crooks"? (For example, meth addicted, or teenagers, or something?) or pros?

4) have they been arrested for some other reason, somewhere else, already?

5) why you or your home? What made it a nice target, expensive vehicles? Big home? Isolated?

and more.

Without knowing who it was and what they wanted, its impossible to say... could be anything from a pro burglar (would not come back, owner is alert now and may add alarms, dogs, guns and more) to a meth head (may be back, gotta have a fix and it was easy the first time, duh...).

Right, The way people are now, I wouldn't be shocked if they did come back. I hope they don't, but if they do, keep your calm and aim straight;)

Greetings! I had some in-laws who were broken into 3 times in 3 weeks. Each time they couldn't believe it had happened. Be ready.

I was trained 2 to the chest (center-mass) and 1 to the head ......... every time.

Follow that lesson and they won't ever be back!

Welcome aboard

We all hope and pray that it never comes to this...But...if you gotta defend yourself...this is the way.

I'm glad you're here, but sorry you had that terrible experience.

Prepare to defend yourself and your family. Practice (muscle-memory is for real) and always know who/what you're shooting at.
