The State of Residency is the State he or She is Permanently Stationed.

If the Service Member lives close enough to Travel between two States and has a Residency in one State and Stationed in another He or She shall have Residencey in both States.( think FT Campbell living off the Fort and commuting. )

Buying a Handgun with a current Military ID and claiming an address in the State of the Purchase of the Handgun is acceptable.

Drivers License Requirements I have no idea.

Although you may not be legally required your still better off getting the TN Permit than the indiana permit. It covers several states that indiana does not. As far as Military Training instead of the class as the other links said a Memo signed by your chain of command will suffice. And as long as your indiana permit is still valid you should only have to pay the lower renewal fee IOT get the TN Permit. To me the 50 dollars is worth the peace of mind to know that im not having to guess or interpret weird laws and exemptions. Added bonus you get the ability to carry in more states. I went through alot of the same stuff when i came to FT Campbell from Muncie, Indiana. Now that im here i plan on staying. PM me if you have any questions about the area, places to shop places to stay away from etc. Been stationed here since 02 so ive learend alot about the area. Welcome to the 101ST.

Ok hear is another problem. When you travel to IN beware as I dont think TN permit is good there. Never mind as I see it had changed. I got hasseled with IN trying to get info on carrying there before.

I had an out of state license the majority of the time I was stationed at Campbell. When I made gun purchases in Clarksville I had to provide my orders and a utility bill (something proving I lived in Tennessee). You shouldn't need the added requirement of providing a utility bill if you purchase in KY, but since your orders bringing you to Campbell are for KY you'll need to prove you live in TN. This is how I understood it. If you have a TN driver's license I guess you don't need any of that.
