Oh, man - I've got it bad

Recommended Posts

The knife bug has bitten me squarely on the hiney and it has bitten me HARD.

I've spent almost all the Christmas money I got on knives. Over the weekend I bought a Kershaw Blur and a Benchmade Aphid at the RK Gunshow in Franklin. At the same time, I received the Benchmade Mini-Grip I ordered.

I just found out that several Kershaws were being discontinued this year, including the Baby Boa, so I ordered one from Amazon as well as a SOG Flash I that I had been sitting on the fence about.

And I haven't even touched ZT, Chris Reeve, Randall, and the more expensive lines.

Geez, this is addicting!!! Somebody help me please!!

I will save you. As part of my 12-step program, you must first admit you have a problem and are powerless. Step 2 is to send me all of your edged weapons and tools, liquid assets, credit cards, checks, etc, and all of your paychecks must be direct deposited into my account. I will then hold the edged implements for you until I deem that you have fully recovered from your addiction. You may or may not get the money back though, this 12-step stuff is expensive.

This is a great program, but all said funds must be split amongst the recovering bladed weapon collectors for supporting future gun purchases.

Feed your addiction! I bought my first custom knife when I was 12. According to the records my wife found I've been through over 8000 knives so far. The joy for me has been the pursuit of "the perfect knife" as well as historical ones. I've developed many great relationships over the years. The knife is the most personal and useful tool that one can own. Steel and the making of has a mystical aura, the first blacksmiths were the beginings of Alchamist. They evolved into the sciences that we know today. A knife is the microcosim of all man's knowledge. What could be better to appreciate and collect.

Wheew... After reading this I feel a bit fanatical don't mean to be. Just enjoy your new addiction and keep bandaids around.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Cheers,

ts

There's no help available, so enjoy it.

If and when you getting into the higher end knives is when you start to see the money fly and fly fast. The other week I totaled up how much I had spent on knives the last couple of months and I was shocked that I had spent that much money. I'm not going to tell any of you how much it is was. But, it was a lot.

I have a knife bug as well, every time I eat a steak.

I find knives much more addictive as a collector than I ever found guns. There are so many craftsmen making so many incredible knives that you never run out of new things to discover.

I forgot to mention one thing. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on knives stay off of BladeForums. :D
