Just curious to know if any of you have read Robert Ruark's book "The Old Man and the Boy"? It is hands down one of the best books on hunting and, unfortunately, a way of life that is gone that I have ever read. What I would give to be able to turn the clock back to those days! At least for the hunting and fishing anyways....

Sounds like a book a need to read. I remember some of the "old days". I wish I could bring the "people" and "good times" back.....just days gone by....

I read it and enjoyed it. I read "My side of the Mountain" about the same time and it's still one of my favorites.

I didn't know you could read little Buddy!

You and your Young'un ready for some Rabbit hunting?

Read any of Peter Hathaway Capsticks books on hunting Africa. That man is amasterful story teller and has seen plenty hunting the big 5 in Africa as a guide.

Capstick's books are great. Love the story about the African hunt on which some Japanese clients, armed with .460 Weatherby magnums, opened up on a bunch of lions that had paid a midnight visit to the campsite. Capstick said (as I recall) that from that point on he collected weapons at the end of the day. Another GREAT set of books (and I mean I would place these near the top of any all time list) are Jim Corbett's books on maneating tigers. This guy was the real deal. A good place to start is "Maneaters of Kumaon". I guarantee you won't be able to put it down until you've turned the last page.
