Carry Class in Cleveland Area

Anyone taken a class in Cleveland or the surrounding areas and have a recommendation? Me and two other friends plan on going together to get ours.

Also how long do you have after taking the class to get your permit? I've heard a few different answers.

I believe the Cleveland sherriffs does it super cheap, but you have to wait for the class to fill up and you really don't get much advance notice...so I've been told.

Fugates is an option just north of Cleveland, not sure if volunteer ordnance works has a class.

I took mine at shooters depot in Chattanooga and the 2 guys that taught the class made it as fun as you can make that class.

Volunteer doesn't yet. I was told around March they would start doing them. I reckon after they get that new range in :)

I found this on the TN.gov website.

Applicant shall submit proof of the successful completion of a department approved Handgun Safety Course within the past six (6) months.

So I guess that answers my question, 6 months?

Oooh, I don't think I was clear I just realized on the "how long does it take" part. Hmm, how to word this :) I was wondering how long your training/class is valid for for you to go and apply for your permit. One of my friends may not be able to go and get it right away was why I was asking.

Fugate Firearms. I did mine there good folks. I think I paid $50

Fugates is top notch and they generally can get you in a class with a weeks notice. By having two certified instructors they are able to cut the class from 8hrs to 4 hrs

Sorry to hear about the job....but when you can, Fugate's gets my vote...they are great folks to deal with...and the class on Friday nights gets it all done at once...had a family member take it this past Friday...not a true "gun" person, but was very pleased. Tell 'em hello.

I did mine at Shooter's Depot in Chattanooga. The instructor made it as fun as it could possibly be and the time went by quickly.

Well, I've decided I'm going to take my severance money and do it anyways :)

Does Fugate's have a website or can someone give me a phone number for them? Thanks a lot.

Made a call to Fugate's today and got me and my other two friends in the February 10th class. If anyone else will be going let me know so I can say hello. :yum:

Went to class and had a great time tonight :) Very entertaining and informative. I learned a couple things. I didn't do too bad on my target either  Wasn't 100%, but got about 95 :D
