if you're looking for a carry gun id go with the glock. the marlin would be rather cumbersome. :)

The rifle is nice, IF you have a handgun you CAN shoot and/or carry.......

Still the Glock would be the better purchase because of it's size (concealment) and power....

i have a 3" 1911 S&W for my EDC, so I don't need it for carry...both of these have been on my wish list for awhile, but I cant afford both at the same time...

If you are buying new it doesnt matter, you can buy either any time you have the $$

If you are buying used, then whichever is the better deal :)

Me too. 45-70 is a fun gun to see what you can punch a hole in(solid bag of quick Crete) dad made me pick up all the pieces so wouldn't hurt the law mower.

Really? You honestly can't gather the information and make a decision yourself?

well...the honest answer for which one I want more is....both. My wallet does not agree. I'll end up with both eventually, its more...which one should i get first :)

Which will you use more? Carry? Hunting? Then buy the other later. Simple.

What an unusual dilemma. The most prudent approach is a need’s vs. wants’ assessment to determine your priorities. Simply stated which of the two firearms you really need for a specific purpose or which of the two do you simply want to own. Most likely both fall into the later course and can be deferred for a while or until more fund’s come into play. If not then do a coin toss and keep on moving because both gun’s are always available.

WTF? Forget your meds today?

Ummm, no, I didn't, but thanks for the concern.

I guess I just don't understand why people want someone else to make their decisions for them.

45-70....unless you are going to use it for your everyday carry or dove hunting gun.

If these are both just on the "want list" with no specific need at this time, I would have to vote for the Marlin. A quality lever gun is way classier than any plastic gun ever dreamed of being. Not to crap on the Glock, but it just does not share that nostalgic sentiment that any Marlin lever gun has. I guess for me, I think about it as which would I rather pass down to my kids? The answer to that is easy...

That, my friend, is a compelling position!

I don't like Glocks - yeah, I know, they are good guns I just don't like them. Therefore, presented with a choice of a Glock vs. X, I'll take X. On the other hand, lever action is my favorite rifle action - they are just so much fun to shoot. I'd go with the lever gun (in fact, a lever gun in .357 is right near the top of my want list right now.)
