bushcraft with the kids... lean-to shelter

My oldest girl asked me yesterday if we could build a fort near our garden area, to which I said possibly and asked what she had in mind. Much to my surprise she wanted a "lean-to thingy". Due to time constraints we were only able to get the frame work and a start on the bark layer yesterday. Today we got the first leaf and stick layer on. Once things dry out a bit we'll finish it up as well as the bedding. The kids are already wanting to spend the night in it.

That's awesome, though. Even if they never need to build one the experience a person gets from building things with their hands opens up many doors of understanding. That's being a cool dad right there.
