What would the People really do?

Recommended Posts

I need to preface this post by saying I am not encouraging anyone to do anything illegal. I have just been wondering what would really happen in a real political nightmare. You read it here a lot and other places too. "They can have my gun when they pry it from by cold dead hand" Strictly hypothetically, if we woke up tomorrow and Obama had suspended the Constitution, declared himself supreme leader and ordered all private guns seized under penelty of life in prison, how many people do you think would resist? I feel sure that some of the military, the national guard and many local LE would not go along, but if he had a convincing story about terrorists or other imminent threat, some would. But what about the average joe. I would like to think I would resist but I can't be sure. I have a family to take care off and I couldn't do that from a concentration camp or dead from a shoot out with vastly superior forces.

I am sure many will say "Oh this can never happen." I hope it can't. I don't think it will, but what do you think anyway?

No one would follow the order (they can’t) and then congress would impeach him.

I’m always surprised at the people that think during the collapse of a government the Military or Police will have nothing to do but come knocking on their door to get their guns. :)

I don't have good enough imagination or grip on reality to know what people would do in a collapse, but have seen opinion (and books/movies of course) that if things get bad enough then roving military/police units would take whatever they want, which might include guns. Similar to gangs or mafia, except that military or police units would claim the "proper authority" to take whatever they want.

They would have advantage over ordinary citizens or gangs because of better training and organization.

Am not saying anything bad about military or police. Already admitted I haven't the foggiest idea what to expect under extreme conditions. Maybe people would be more noble than we expect. But there are many places in the world where the "authorities" take anything they think they need.

I would hate to think all those record breaking gun sales in December and Black Friday were all bought for naught. Most of the gun sales in last three years were not just for SD, but for the SHTF day. Its not improbable that day could occur with a president disregarding the constitution. If over 90 million gun owners turn in their guns, this country is not gonna be worth living in anyway. No president can come up with a convincing story for voluntary gun surrender. That would be Un-American to ask the people to surrender their guns. I believe there would a revolt of most true American blooded citizens against the tyrannical government if the gun confiscation day ever happens. But then I'm also convinced that there are some brain dead citizens who would gladly turn in their guns if Obie asked them to do so.

Just to play along, my response would be I am not going to tell you what I would do. Anyway, I don't own any guns so I am not all the important.

Do you remember Katrina?

The great thing about this country is that we are not ruled by one person. This country is ran by the president, the houses and the courts.

When one steps out of line, the others can step in to un-do whatever has been done. And if need be, remove those responsible.

There was no collapse of government in Katrina.

Yes, it’s always the first thing that is brought up in these scenarios. The U.S. District Court issued an injunction to stop it, 22 states and the Federal government passed legislation making sure it won’t happen again.

I also saw video of two Police Officers in uniform looting stores; that doesn’t mean all cops were doing it. You will have all kinds of people out of control in a disaster. The Police and National Guard that could find nothing better to do in a disaster like that are criminals anyway.

There you go again, spoiling the party with a shot of reality :). If it all goes to hell in a handbasket, it won't be because somebody seized control. It will be a total loss of control.

I aim to please. :D

Those few LEOs doing the gun confiscations we know about during Katrina were quite lucky in who they chose; or chose because they knew they'd get no resistance.

I would cut my house off from the grid; I am set to be self-sufficient. Declare my property a sovereign state, and go hunting….. A new season opens that day you know. :)

What would the people do?

:panic::panic::panic::)

What would a CITIZEN [as defined by our founding fathers] do?

:bat::stick::D

The thing I find laughable, is all the armchair warriors and couch commandos who can talk [type] big talk while their fat ___ is sitting in their mom's basement. The scene will be bloody for fact and for certain, but the turnout will not be as high as the number of [virtual] fists in the air we see on the interwebz.

The sheeple here in the United States of Amerika are a joke. They've shown their worth as a whole in recent years. The idea of tens of thousands of convicted, righteous gun owners rising up in this country is an even bigger joke. Our system is a drug to which there is no methadone and withdrawals are 99% fatal. As disgruntled as the people are as a whole, once they realize that they'll lose internet, cable and fast food they will fall to their knees penitently begging forgiveness. If the "occupy" morons could get a taste of what they are asking for, they'd be living proof. I'm sorry if this hurts feeling, but go into any major city and the people there are not even human anymore. They are parasitic meat droids slaved to the "system" that supports them. Ohh it's true the ensuing chaos will be cataclysmic but I wonder if most people are right in what direction they think it will go. I think not.

The hug and hold warm hearted brotherly love everyone displayed after 9/11 won't be on the menu of the day. Katrina, by comparison to a major nationwide collapse, was small and insignificant. The people there showed exactly what the sheeple here will do. Mindless animals. Imagine that playing in a theatre near you, from coast to coast.

Oh, so they were seizing guns post-Katrina because the government didn't collapse. I guess that makes everything better.

If it all goes to hell in a handbasket, you can bet that the government will be looking to seize control, the citizens' rights be damned.

There are far too many members of the military and law enforcement who know nothing of the Constitution, who do not care to learn about the Constitution, and are simply willing to follow orders. And there are far too many members of the citizenry who know nothing of the Constitution, who do not care to learn about the Constitution, and are simply too timid to do anything but follow orders.

What will the people do? For the most part, they'll drop trou, allow their wrists to be shackled to their ankles, and just hope it isn't so bad.

And the enforcers? All I can say is, God bless those who join the Oath Keepers. And to Hell with those who won't.

Yeah, and Obie's minion Eric Holder could easily sue the states and void the legislation declaring that such laws are an imposition to the power of the dictator Obie.:)

It's probably best to ask the countries of Europe what they would do. They bowed down and did exactly what the government told them to do.

That is what would happen in this country. There would be a few exceptions readily dealt with, but generally, it can and will eventually happen. Thinking otherwise is folly.

I just hope my time on this Earth is done before that type of control is in place.
