Dan Wesson Valor VBOB 1911 Info

Anyone have any positive or negative comments on Dan Wesson Valor model 1911's?

I don't have one, but from those I know that do (or did), I've heard all positive comments.

They are rediculously expensive handmade 1911's. They are showcase guns... In another forum I'm on, there is a sticky called "I'm a dan wesson owner and I am a ____________ for a living." Just so everyone else will know what occupation to take up. lol.... Do not mistake my sarcasm for reality....Quality is exceptional! Here in Nashville, they are hard to come by. The last one I saw was a heritage model used in bad shape... still wanted $1200. No thanks I'll buy a TRP way before a DW.... or build a wilson from the floor or something.

Yeah I had the TRP and a few others and just figured I would ask. Just didn't know if the price was worth it or not for their quality. If I wanted one I would have to buy online cause I cannot find one in town.

I have a CBOB. It is a wonderful example of a 1911. Though I didn't pay 1200 for it.

I have a full size Valor with the duty coat that I use as my EDC. While it is not the VBOB, here is a link to a shootout with the fullsize Valor. The only differences being the gov vs commander and bobtail. The Valor would be the last pistol I would part with.

Saw an SS VBOB at Guns and Ammo on Summer (Memphis) a couple of weeks ago. Price was somewhere between 1500 and 1600. They are superior to the CBOB they essentially replaced. All forged, no MIMs, no castings.

I was reading that the Valors were superior to the lower end Wessons, naturally looks like the Valor VBOB will cost me 1740. Does this sound about right? It has the duty coat, commander size. How does the duty coat hold up compared to other coatings like Springers Teflon?

This is what I was going to say except I might substitute "outstanding" or maybe "excellent" in place of "wonderful". Although, wonderful does certainly apply.

You can probably find one for a as low as $1600 if you are patient and keep search hard enough.

They call it a duty treatment now. It is a metal treatment and by my (and others) guess some sort of ferritic nitrocarburizing, I've inadvertently done some things that would have ruined most duty coats and it did nothing. Marks that I originally thought had affected the finish was actually part of the metal from the other object that could be rubbed off with oil and a rag and be like new again.

The vbobs are superior in fit, finish and parts to the cbob it replaced. Most people who prefer cbobs do so because of the polished flats on the cbob. The 10mm cbobs seemed to have had a bit more fitting and attention than the .45s.

I think if you can afford it, they're worth the money. I couldn't, so I bought a TRP. Now one could say, " throw in 700 more and get an Ed Brown. But to me $700 is quite a large chunk. It's all about what you are willing to pay. I guarantee you won't be disappointed as long as you don't sell your soul to buy one.

Lol I had a TRP Operator and I liked it. I am still deciding and no I am not adding even more cash. Most likely I think I am gonna pass on the DW, but I always change my mind lol

I would agree with all of those. If the VBOB is that much better than the CBOB, I would be very impressed.
