was resizing some of my range pickup .223 tonight using a lee full size die

all was going great when all of a sudden one seemed to bottom out a little early so i stpped pulled it out thinking

something may be inside the case nothing in there all looked fine so i put it back in die and just pushed handle down

pulled it out and thought damm that neck looks long finished the rest about 150 total and just before i was done

had one more

they are not .223 but 204 Ruger?? evidently someone picked up most of there brass whn they shot these and i just happened to

pick up 2 out of my 150 lol

the ruger 204 rounds are the ones on the ends with 2 .223 in middle for comparison

send any .204 Ruger cases to me (except the you ones shortened to .223). I load them all the time.

It is an outstanding performer (necked down .222 Rem Mag), and cleans the clock on .223 Rem (which I also load).

Yea, I crushed about 3 204 cases before I realized something was wrong. I thought I was miss-aligning the tool head before I pulled the crushed case and seen 204 Ruger. Somehow I picked them up at the range that someone had left. They look enough like .223 it's hard to tell without looking close.

I bought some new 257 Roberts brass last year, and there was one 300 Weatherby magnum case among them. Unlike you, I had no problem picking it out. It looked like a trash can next to the brass I wanted.

Bob,

another neat one is when someone fires a 223 in a 222Mag chamber (not recommended). It fireforms leaving just a tiny shoulder and probably about to have a case head separation.

I've got several dozen or so 204 cases floating around here somewhere, in and amongst the rest of my loaded ammo. I never knew they were 204's either. I sized them and didn't notice. I noticed when I started trimming. They run fine. Trimmed to length and loaded just like the rest of the 223's they run just fine through any of my AR's
