I dont know how VA Tech even got a BCS bowl bid, and im glad they lost and proved to everyone why they fidnt deserve the bid. The whole college bowl system is so corrupt and dysfunctional, its not even funny to laugh about it anymore.

I haven't watch any games. Usually watch the New Years day game but there wasn't any this year. Just NFL games that for the most part meant nothing.

They are really screwing up college football.

Too bad both teams can't lose!

I feel the same way about the national champ game. Who wants to see AL lose again?

Wyatt, its hard for me understand why you would feel that a top 25 team wouldnt get a bowl game. There are SOOO many bowl games. I agree that there are too many bowls, and I didnt start watching bowls till this weekend.

I know there are a lot of bitter people out there that TN didnt get a bowl, but that doesnt mean you got to hate on people that made it into a bowl.

I agree with that.

Even as big of a Gator fan that I am I did not feel that a 6-6 team that played the way they did this year really deserved any bowl game...yet they got into the Gator bowl because it is so close to the school that they knew that they could sell the seats. And I figure the only reason that they brought Ohio State, another 6-6 team into the game was because it was Ohio State and they are not going to be bowl eligible next year.

Then again there are soooooo many bowl games anymore there is almost enough for everyone to have one to play in.

This year I finally realized what has been missing for me in college football recently. And it wasn't back to back winning seasons by UT. It is the way these bowls are stretched out over so many nights.

When I was a younger it was all about New Year's Day. You had all the big bowls rolling, you switched the TV back and forth between games, and there was a sense of closure at the end of the day. The first BCS championship game was played on January 4th, now it is stretched all the to january 9th. I guess it's good business to string this stuff out but it's just not the same. I want the Orange bowl to be Big Twelve versus at large, the Sugar Bowl to be SEC versus At large, the Rose Bowl to be Pac 12 versus Big preTENd the Feista bowl to be all about doritos and Chris Elliot.

Oh, and turkey sandwiches from leftover Christmas turkey. I also like phones with cords, floppy disks, video tape and answering machines.

. . . . I also like phones with cords, floppy disks, video tape and answering machines.

I have some of each, also a pager and a Palm Pilot.

Some day, someone will want one of these marvels, and only us old guys will have them.

Bowl games (and most college athletics) are about money -- not sports, not athletes, not the quest for excellence. Money.

That said, did you see what my WVU did to Clemson? :(

I would hate to have spent my hard earned money to go watch that game as a Clemson fan. I've been to 3 big bowls as a Tennessee fan, '85 Sugar Bowl, the '90 Cotton Bowl and the National Championship game at the '99 Fiesta Bowl. They all turned out well for UT but I can sure imagine what those fans in attendence felt last night!
