I believe it is the Jeep model which comes from the factory most-appropriately outfitted for off-road use (various heavy-duty parts not on the less expensive models). However they also often come with luxury interior items, GPS and leather and such. Which may have dubious interaction with dirt, mud and water.

Seems most offroaders who buy rubicons promptly add-on thousands of bucks of other goodies, however.

I like the OD Green on Black. I'm not a fan of the graphics either. I even like the rims, but they need to be smaller 17" max. Lift kits with low profile tires just turn me off.

It's really set up for those potholes that keep on growing in the roads. For real off roading you need Old school non-electronic bs. Even the manual transmissions on the jeeps are computer controlled.

It is the model which is best for offroading on steep/hilly terrain (crawling). They come standard with electronic swaybar disconnects, front and rear axle lockers, rock sliders decent rubber for crawling and the newer ones have hill assist for assisting with controlling descents.

Depending on your off roading needs, it may not be the "most-appropriately outfitted for off-road use" if your needs are more mud oriented as the transfer case is setup lower than most would want.

I am on my second and have made no changes to them. I have never been at a loss to get where I need to be out here in the hills.

Haven't done anything to my JK Sport S except a couple of things cheaper to add after-market such as Sahara running boards. After a year the farthest off road was easy gravel roads. Might run it on a dirt road one day. Hope the paint won't get scratched.

Don't like the size of the wheels and I don't like the flares. Like the color.

Rubi's historically come with 4:10 gears, although from what I understand the 2012's with auto, 4:10's are optional.
