I was thinking about driving up to Knoxville tomorrow and I noticed that there is a gun show at Chihlowee Park starting Dec. 30.

I have been up there several times, but not on a Friday. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Thanks.

Point is, you can get in on Friday?

Do the vendors really set up on Thursday or what? I kinda got the impression that half of them don't even show till Friday afternoon?

Who's actually ever been to one on Friday?

Are the usual suspects gonna show up on Saturday? I'm actually in Knoxville this weekend.

I've been to several Friday 3 day specials. I know a couple years back it was jammed packed but that was directly after Christmas. With a lot of people working today I am curious to see how the crowds will be.

Place was absolutely packed this afternoon around 3 pm. That's about all I can report. Went for one specific thing, found it and left. Will probably go back tomorrow and browse although there's not much I can find for $14. :P

Hey Neil, I am skipping it but not sure about the other trouble makers. You might want to fire off a PM to Mac.

I was there between 1:20 and 3:00. I had to wait in line 20 minutes in order to get in. It was packed. I didn't really care about going, but my brother was down from Long Island, so I figured I would take him to a big gun show.

I didn't really find anything I needed or wanted. I was up there mainly for knives. However, I did run across one item that I thought was a deal. A vendor had a SS Wilson Combat Protector at a really good price, but I certainly don't need another 1911. I think my mother and sister had a good time. They were probably the only two people at the show who were specifically looking and buying non-firearm related merchandise.

It is too bad that nobody has a TGO name tag on so I would be able to recognize someone from the forum. I have been up there several times, and I am sure I have probably seen people from this forum, but I have no idea what they look like.

I stepped into Volunteer Ordinance Works this afternoon with a friend to have a look around as I've become fond of doing there lately :) and noticed the counters were wiped out. I was thinking hmm... Heavy duty cleaning or one heck of a sale... Lol The guy at the counter mentioned they take their wares to a gun show in Knoxville so I guess this was the one he was referring to.

Sadly that kind of ruined my browsing experience but I'm sure I'd have had a blast if I could have gotten to Knoxville!

Yep, they do that for most gun shows in TN. If you ever go to VOW on a weekend (I know today was an exception) it is always best to check and see if a gun show is scheduled.

If it was free to get in, I would definitely go. Was there any good deals on 5.56 ammo? Some place in Johnsonville sells some Isralie stuff that people on ar15.com seem to like.

Are you allowed to "open carry" at the gun show? Seriously, I don't know.

Sure, as long as it isn't loaded.

Also, it will be assumed to be for sale or trade - so decide how much you will take for it.
