Shooter's depot is where I got mine a few months back. I've seen one in there since then as well. I don't know if they currently have one in stock.

Rumor has it that Ruger found out you couldn't just take someone from the P-90 assembly line and have them put together 1911s without significant training. So they have a very limited number of staff working on SR1911s, hence a shortage.

I was told my a local gun dealer that starting first of 2012 that Ruger is going to step up the distribution of Ruger 1911's in "mass quantity" but I will believe it when I see it.

I found mine at Coal Creek here in Knoxville but they said I basically just got lucky. They aren't expecting any more until later in 2012. But it would never hurt to ask!

my local guy sold one this week $800

Wow $800. I think I will wait for a while until the demand begins to decrease. besides who knows if there will be a recall anytime soon.

GT distributors had some a while back for 749 or 799 I dont remember. I think I have actually seen one at J and M Pawn in Chattanooga also but I didn't see a price. Hes very competitve there though.

I have seen Two right when they first came out at Bill's Outpost for $649.99. But have not seen any since. Heard that Ruger had more equipment coming so they could make more starting in mid January. I hope that is right.
