Barrel not exactly straight

Hey fellas, I have a Charter Arms 38 with the 2" barrel. The barrel on it isn't on straight, what I mean by that is it is NOT crooked, but the sights are to the left a little bit. I called a fellow in my town, said he can unscrew it, put a shim in it, and retighten it for about $50. I was just wonderin if thats the best way to go, and if thats a decent price. The gun is a cheapo I am going to try to reblue myself so dont want to spend a ton on it. I am in Sevier if anyone knows anyone. Thanks guys!

Personally, if the overclocked barrel bothered me, I'd sell the gun and buy another.

I've never heard of shimming a barrel to correct overclocking. I have heard of removing and rethreading the barrel, recut the length, rechamber the barrel and reassemble. Sounds like this gun isn't worth the expense.

If you bought it new and haven't "modified" it in any way call Charter and see if you can send it back to them at their expense to have it fixed.
