Prophecy and divine authority. Okay, you convinced me, here's your PhD in history -- I concede that your arrogance is indeed justified. :P

I never demanded you read the Bible or any history books, I only suggested them for historical understanding of the world current events. Work on the reading comprehension also. But if you had a clear understanding of the Bible as a source of history as well as a divine authority, you would know that the re-birth of Israel in May14,1948 was prophesied in the Bible, and this event has world implications and consequences today. The generation that witnesses the re-birth of Israel will see the end times of the world as we know it today. A generation is generally considered 70 years by most Bible scholars, and this May 14, Israel will be 64 years old as a nation. But you already knew that. I'm sorry for lecturing you on history.

You are the one that engaged in childish tit for tat and tin-foil status discussions. Work on the maturity as well as historical study. I thought this forum was a discussion forum where everyone's opinion is just that, an opinion. If you don't agree then don't engage in your childish tit for tat tin-foil status accusations. Since you have over 7,400 posts on this forum, I didn't know you are the almighty of the forum. Let me inform you that if everybody that has different opinions of yours doesn't make them crackpots.

Have a good evening sir.

So if the world is going to end in 6 years or less why do you care what the government does. According to your theory of biblical proficy isreals 64 now a generation is 70 years (is that current human years or methuselah years) and the end times will be with in a generation of isreals rebirth. So if my maths right 6 more years. If i was one hundred percent certain the world was ending in 6 years i really wouldnt care what my govenrment or any other does. You could spend days listing all the factual information the bible lists thats completely impossible and about an hour talking about anything historically proven. In my personal opinion its myhtology maquerading as history. What makes the bible any more beleivable as a historical document that the iliad (Accepted to be fiction).

There are precious few, if ANY, historically verified historical people or events in the approximately 3500 year span recounted in the Old Testament to corroborate that compilation of folklore and ethos of Jewish culture.

While there are some relatively accurate historical references to Roman and Greek history in the tacked on New Testament, there is no, absolutely NO historical record of Jesus himself by any contemporary historical source -- indeed, no part of the New Testament itself was written during his purported lifetime. Since the principal thesis of the entire NT cannot be verified, it certainly casts doubts on any other part that cannot be verified through other sources of the same time period.

But these minor obstacles of course would obviously not give a scholar of your caliber much pause in citing the Bible as an overall reliable secular source. And how what little verifiable history is does contain relates to your prognosis about America is clearly well beyond my grasp.

As a believer of God, I believe in the veracity of Bible as a historical source as well as a divine source. Obviously, non-believers would not hold the bible to its veracity. But I concede that I'm not nearly as scholastic as you sir, and I also concede that I do not even come close to your arrogance sir. But with that said, I hope we can have discussions on this forum in the future, without our arrogance showing on this great forum.

Do you base the veracity of mathematics and the physical sciences on your faith also, or just history?

But I concede that I'm not nearly as scholastic as you sir,

First valid thing you've posited. :P

and I also concede that I do not even come close to your arrogance sir.

Na, na na, na, na seems as sophisticated a response as you deserve there.

But with that said, I hope we can have discussions on this forum in the future..

Well, that makes one of us. Ta ta.

Faith is a fair answer to that question. But it is a series of stories written with an intent of teaching morals and guiding principles. Unfortunately it is a series of stories written by men, translated by even more men, and the compiled by a group of men over time this causes the bible to be fallable. Not as the word of god but as the word of god interpreted by men. Or am i to assume that a group of people understood the original teachings centuries after when we debate today on the meaning of the founding fathers barely 200 years ago with well documented evidence. (just to tie this back in to the current thread and prevent total hijacking). I firmly beleive that an individual can have faith without having to take every thing in the bible as 100 percent guaranteed factual.

From a pretty popular mainstream church near my house:

"We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God's truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice."

There are a few outs in there. "original manuscripts" and so forth but the message seems to be that the Bible is always right. This notion leads to such things as YECism and other absurdities. It's a little like following a map from 1050 and imagining that there are no new roads. How do I get to London? You walk upon Old Groats paths for fifty four hogs heads until you sleep at Olde Guiness Inn. On the following day you hit Vestivus road, watch out for robbers and you'll be in London by the time the sun sets on boiled chestnut farm.

You counter you could just drive a car and the other folks say "not biblical!"

Not a believer in this stuff but, crap, if God went to all the trouble of giving you a brain why would he prohibit the use thereof? Life is full of complex questions, a single book however inspired or fictional can't answer all of them.

Wow, this thread has everything! FEMA, conspiracy theories that O is gonna lock us all up in cold, damp camps and how the bible tells us this will happen.

I think I'll leave now before the aliens get mentioned. ;)

Too late! (but thanks for mentioning them). :)

And btw folks, as I see this thread going south of where a thread is allowed to go here, I didn't mean to abet its traveling off track into a debate about Christianity or Judaism in and of themselves as faiths (either side of which is verboten).

Now aliens, I understand, are totally fair game. But we need to settle that debate with some speed, as 12/21/12 hurries our way. Which may involve aliens, too.

Here it is brother and sister opiners:

About I.W.G. (Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo)

In the not too distant future, the mysterious Astral Overseers put into motion their master plan....an interstellar space vehicle returning to Earth unknowingly carries a specially designed cosmic retrovirus which soon spreads worldwide thru the jet stream. Completely unaffecting humans, this new retrovirus soon begins to find its way into certain animal species. Quickly causing mutations, Earth begins to see a variety of animals evolve into self-aware or sentient life. A formidable combination of all an animal's strengths, an intelligence equal to humans, and some say new powers. Immediately gaining a new and more profound understanding the danger humans presented to their kind, this new breed of sentient creatures stays hidden from human eyes for years as they develop their own society and culture, albeit somewhat loosely based and culled from observing humans and their media. An immediate goal for these creatures was to organize, and begin resisting the human destruction and domination of what was once their "natural" habitat. Strangely, as they increased in strength, numbers, and sophistication, their tactics, tastes, and habits were increasingly becoming more "human" in many ways.

Full of conflict, contradiction, frustration, anger and the desire to save themselves and their world, a resistance movement emerged. The first of these resistance cells was the "I n s u r g e n t s W i l d e r n e s s G r u p p o "....

I don't think aliens will be responsible for the end. I trust they would have told their buddy Einstein about it if they had plans for 12-21-12.

Course, I guess he could have been in on it....

Damn, back to square one :D

OK... I looked over all 11 pages of this alleged secret document. I see nothing in it discussing how FEMA will designate the American people as "enemies" or "wage war" on the American people. In fact, I see nothing even close to that in the document.

Rush Limbaugh finally discussed this topic in-depth yesterday and he concluded that, yes, in fact, the document DOES state that it IS possible/allowable/permissible (whichever word you would like to use) for the U.S. Government to detain anyone (U.S. citizen included) without warrant, no habeas corpus, and indefinitely.

In fact, it has been stated by several sources that Obama was specifically the very one who demanded that this portion of the legislation be put in there.

He then issued a signing statement when signing the bill that said he promised to never use that portion of the bill.

Interestingly, conservative tin-foil conspiracy jokes aside, the Daily KOS, Huffington Post and ACLU all agree that the bill does in fact authorize detention of American Citizens -

One particular Obama Kool-Aid carrying site (linked below) emphatically denies such is the case, but even The Daily Kos calls them out on it (third link up) -

Now, if HuffPo, Daily Kos and others (sources that I can't believe I am naming) can see through this bill, why is it so hard to deny the possibility that what people are saying may be true?

Michael Savage has also chimed in on the subject -

As well as many others, and, as has been mentioned, if one does not have the ability to parse the English language, then they may obviously not fully grasp what the bill actually allows:
