Shopping running ya ragged? Bills taking their toll on the bank account? Can't find that perfect gift? To make matters worse, you step in to Sears or JcPenny, or whatever store is tickling your fancy in search of that perfect gift, and yes....you guessed it. As you step in the door you're greeted by the smooth but boring baritone voice of Perry Como, or perhaps the somber sounds of Floyd Cramer, singing "I'll be Home for Christmas." You roll your eyes, mutter something incomprehensible under your breath, take a deep gulp of cold air, and step inside to the holiday madness of bustling shoppers, screaming kids and people rudely pushing past you, or stopping in the middle of the aisle to text someone, while you roll your eyes again as Floyd Cramer's "Frosty the Snowman" begins to grate on your last nerve.

STOP...right there, freeze, hold it. Now wait just a minute. Yep, it's Christmas, the time to be jolly, happy in good spirits. But you're not in the mood. Same thing, different year, same annoying music in every store you go into and on every radio station you dial in. Sure the Christmas Classics are enjoyable when listened to in moderation and at your leisure, but they're most certainly not when your eardrums are repeatedly raped against their will in every single store you step foot into.

So, I'm gonna show you how I enjoy my Christmas! :) Step aside Perry Como, make way Floyd Cramer. Here's how we rock Christmas......Tran-Siberian Orchestra style!

Some of you have heard of these guys, and know them well, for those that don't, if you're needing a Christmas picker upper, this is the band of Christmas. Seen them in concert 6 times since 1998, and I had front row tickets to last year's show, and made it, even though it was snowing and freezing rain, and it never fails to get my adrenaline going and those positive endorphins in my brain emanating. These guys ROCK!! One minute, you can be doing the head banger to one of their songs, the next one, you're choking back tears because of the emotion they evoke with their music. It's a real treat to see them in concert, never the same routine, and keep it fresh with new ideas, musicians and singers.

Here's their official sites

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Official website

trans-siberianexpress.com home

They feature 3 Christmas Albums, and 2 Non-Christmas Albums, and a Christmas DVD which is great for the kids, and all 5 albums are ridiculously awesome, with some of the best music ever made for Christmas. Even better, their music appeals to ages of all groups, from the little ones, on up to Great Grandma and Great Grandpa, I've literally seen a 90 year old lady doing the head banger at one of the concerts I was at! :D

They do a Christmas tour from September to late Jan, early Feb, take a break, and then go on tour again in the spring for their Non-Christmas Albums.

If you join the TSO fan club (does not cost any money, totally free), you get advanced notice of ticket sales, and TSO Fan club members get priority to purchase their tickets before they go on sale to the public, so you get your pick of seats. Their concerts are unbelievable and easily put a Pink Floyd Laser Light Show....to SHAME!

Here's some youtube samples of their music, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Video of one of their concerts (Which, they ALLOW their fans and ENCOURAGE them to take photos and video and post them up online).

So jump start your Christmas with some ROCK AND ROLL and get in the spirit!!! :)

They will be in

Knoxville March 15, 2012 (Night Castle/Beethoven's Last Night Tour)

Chattanooga March 21, 2012 (Night Castle/Beethoven's Last Night Tour)

Those dancing lights are really cool. Wish I had the time/talent to do that.

My 66yr old aunt (long time pianist/organist) took my 92 year old grandmother to see TSO a couple years ago. They both said it was their first "rock concert". I would've loved to have been there (both to see TSO and their reaction).

This is in my home CD changer right now. It's excellent.

Their Carol Of The Bells, Mad Russian's Christmas, and Christmas in Sarajevo are my all time top favorite Christmas songs...EVER...with Carol Of The Bells taking top spot. I love all of their music.

TSO along with Apocalyptica are part of a genre called Symphonic Rock. Put them in Pandora or Slacker and be prepared to be rocked.
