Hi all. I'm going to take the plunge and buy one of these when they become available 2 January. I'm interested in your opinions if you care to share... Thanks.

I have a laserlyte guide rod laser I like a lot. I have a crimson trace on a keltek that is nice. It has the grip activation button, which makes it easy on and off. Overall, it is a good addition for a carry weapon.

Some dude at the local gun shop made the comment that a laser addition would make me look bad in the event of a self-defense shooting, i.e.- it would look as if I were "gearing-up" for just such an event as a carry permit holder. But that is exactly what I am doing, isn't it? I thought that was a silly statement (and reasoning) on his part; I could neutralize a threat with or without a laser, but the laser would be an aid during a traumatic event like that. Speaking only for myself and my preferences, I think it would be a step in the right direction. Is there really such a stigma associated with lasers, or was this guy just exaggerating?

Honestly, there are arguments on both sides. Some say you should have a completely stock weapon for your carry, so that no one can say you were "planning" for action. Others say you should do everything possible to be ready and able to defend yourself. I like a laser because I think it will help me get and stay on target if I have to employ my weapon. The laser does not take the place of good handling and aiming practices, but it can give you a split second edge in final target acquisition. Whatever you decide, you must still practice. Otherwise, everything you have, including your weapon, is a waste of money.
