Ruger hasn't officially announced it or listed it on their website. I have a feeling that the article was posted a little prematurely.

I can't ever see buying one myself. .22 plinkers are a dime a dozen and the LCR product line is for CCW. Can't see anyone wanting a .22 for CCW.

Some people can't have enough 22's. My collection is well over 75% 22s. And this one would actually be a good way to get someone used to a good ccw platform and lead them up to a 38 or 357 version.

As far as CCW it is better than a pointy stick.

If I were to carry a 22lr I would load it with 60 SSS rounds providing the gun cycled with them. The reason is they are by far the deepest penetrating 22 lr round made. There are gel tests showing 18" of penetration with the bullet tumbling. Next would be the Velocitor because it starts out heavy and does have a far amount of velocity out of a pistol.

What I would avoid is any of the hyper velocity rounds. They require barrel length to get those velocity numbers. In most cases in barrels under 4" they don't reach the speed of sound. Or at least all the ones I have tested have no made it. So you have a slow bullet that is also lightweight when firing these out of a short barrel.

Providing they aren't going to be expensive, which I am sure they are, I wouldn't mind having one.

They probably won't make them in 22mag because they can get about the same performance out of quality 22lr. I'm trying to get 60gr aguila's for my 22lr Naa Mini. My biggest complaint about a 22lr for self defense is the less reliable rimfire ammunition.

Man I am glad they finally announced it....have literally known about it for about 1.5 years now. Other than a carefully worded PM messages I couldn't tell anyone.

To those who I have been hinting to....Told ya so :tinfoil:

Everybody saw this coming word is it was originally going to be released with LCR 38 but it's questionable sales had them hold it back when they couldn't make enough LCP's and LCR's.

I have to share the fact the first homicide I ever went to as a police officer was with 1 shot from a 22lr.

Lot of people around here get killed with .22s, mostly rifles I imagine but up close and personal I sure wouldnt want to get shot by a .22 out of anything.

Ugly pistol like the LCR IMO. I'd much rather see a round cylinder or flukes like the SP101. I suppose it's a effort to reduce weight but I don't care for it.

Could make a fun little toy. Might take a look at one when they hit the market. But really iffy as to buying one. Would really have to be impressive.

Apparently, you've never had anyone "make you an offer you can't refuse."

Yep. *hit happens, mistakes are made. Not really relevant, but I once bought a Phoenix HP-22. (Jonathan had better luck with his (HP-25???), but *mine* sucked...bang,safety drop, reset, bang, safety drop, reset, repeat 8-10 times, then firing pin breaks, trade in for Sub2K <#win>).

At least the LCR is pretty.
