I'm thinking about getting my mom a little pink gun because she absolutely loves my LCP and this is what I found:

Anyone have one of these Taurus pistols, do you enjoy it?

i dont think a pink gun is a good idea. if she ever has to use it, the bad guy is more likely to get so pissed off at getting shot with a pink gun that the shot wont put him down!:tinfoil:

By your standards, if the shot don't kill em they will die of embarrassment…. WIN either way…:D

I can not give any solid input I have had a few friends that love and swear by them and a few with major problems with them.:)

My daughter has the taurus, loves it and has had no problems with it. She tried 5 different brands and only liked the feel of the taurus.

This brings up the question, if your mom loves the LCP, why wouldn't you buy that gun for her? Buying a different gun may leave her with something that doesn't feel good to her. That would make her less likely to practise with it and less likely to carry it, assuming it's to be her carry gun.

I vote for getting her what she likes. How about a visa gift card she could use to buy the gun of her choice?

Thanks PapaB, I like the gift card idea. I figured I would buy her something to surprise her and knowing that she likes Taurus I figured I would get some feedback on this one.

gift card for sure. Buying a gun for someone who has not expressed a desire for that model is a good way to buy something that is difficult to return if the person does not like it. If she has shot one and loves it, thats another story. Worse, your ability to sell or trade a pink gun is reduced: most gun buyers are men and many of the women do not care for pink, its a very small market. My wife finally got a pinked gun, a ruger 10-22 variation, but she rejected all the pistols we have seen so far even though she loves pink.

i offered my wife a pink LCP and she laughed at me..........she did not want a pink gun

and said to me and I quote "would you want a pink gun and do you think a bad guy would take that seriously"

I said good point ,prolly not

This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, it's just because I've seen quite a few comments about a bad guys reaction to the color of a gun on many posts in this, and other, forums.

Frankly, when you need to draw your weapon, it should be in your hand and pointed at the bad guy. I find it hard to believe the bad guy will notice what color the gun is with the muzzle facing him (or her). Your not supposed to wave it around saying "is this gun more of a bubblegum, or hot pink?". If someone prefers pink, I say go for it. You might as well enjoy your gun's looks, as long as it works well and you practice with it.

Don't pull your gun until you are prepared to pull the trigger. That being said, I feel the color of the gun is irrelevant once the perp is feeling hot lead burn through their body. So get what you like.

On that note however, I have also been looking for a small .380 and I posted a thread this week on here that I think you should read. I was also debating between the Taurus and Ruger (pink not being the one of choice) and I got some really good feedback from these guys on small .380's. READ: "Honest opinions on small 380's??"

AS a side note on this topic guys..I am looking into the Sig p238..havent made up my mind still..but at least considering this option..will keep you posted if i make a decision.

^ Appreciate it, I never got a chance to check out the Taurus. I was set on the LCP.

Thanks for the input everyone. I ended up getting her the LCP, the gun she is more familiar with and I did get her the pink one. She absolutely loves it.

I actually heard a career criminal(when I worked in a jail) tell me if a woman pulled a pink gun on him he would feel more threatened because she's a Female Gun Psycho.
