I read the story yesterday and it seemed that it was from a nearby property. Who knows how it will play out but it certainly shows a lack of responsibility on the part of whoever the shooter was. The school can't mitigate that risk other than putting up a protective barrier. Of course, after this incident I doubt it will happen again.

Naturally, I hope it doesn't happen again either. I have my doubts about this wall idea, but I get why they are considering it. For the wall to work it'd neede to be pretty tall, which seems like an expensive solution. Otherwise, a 6 or 8 foot wall would just be for show.

Last I heard they had some hunters/shooters that were target practicing nearby and an illegal w/ an AK-47 just wandering around. I can't wait to hear what their ballistics report proves.

Yeah, the first reports I read just stated that sometimes people target practice on nearby lands, and the newer stories have an armed illegal involved. I'd give the benefit of the doubt and say he was huntin' wabbits for some stew, but it's unlikely that two stray rounds would impact in such close proximity to one another. There's more to the story I believe.

You really wouldn't expect the "make sure it never happens again" crowd to do any of the math. They need to find the idiots that did this, and slap the hell out of them. Hopefully, the "ballistics experts" will inform them that a wall is a real stupid idea. It needs to be a bullet proof bubble.

If they were shooting at targets with no backstop, the bullets could land in close proximity, even at a mile. It's gonna wind up being the target shooters.

I would just like to believe that someone from such distance who would put two rounds in such close proximity exersizes some degree of skill and would be of the presence of mind to have a proper backstop. If it was bubba shooting at beer cans in the woods I don't think the shot placement would put them so close together at a long distance. I'm still curious to hear what the illegal was up to with the weapon.

I figure they get to the bottom of it. I'm guessing the wall idea won't pass the giggle test, even with the blathering idiots that are running our schools these days.
