Yay!!!...No more security at the Expo Center Shows

So I was dreading entering and dealing with the baffoons of Knoxville Contract Security Division. Those are the default security officers used by the Expo Center during events. They have stolen from customers for over a year now and threatened people.

Well as I was walking up I realized the uniforms were different. And had I not been using crutches I probably would have jumped for joy at the sight of KPD. Every officer there was professional and courteous. And most importantly they were not taking people's ammunition.

The Expo Center show is now my favorite show again.

i was surprised to see KPD there as well.

OhShoot talked to the RK guy for a while and apparently there where many, many complaints from people about the rent-a-cops. I guess everyone got tired of the ammo thieving.

Is it worth the drive from Nashville? I've been thinking I'd like to see some different people and products from those in the middle Tn area.

I went this morning. I was sadly disappointed. Prices seemed jacked way up. Figured it was holiday greed. This show has become a big disappointed in general over the years. It used to be great. Its going to be a long time before I go back.. other customers were great in line and by front door but most vendors were jerks of just flat out bull****ters.

I thought it was a good show. Crowded almost like Obama just won the election. The line was as long at noon when I left as it was at nine when we went in.

And David I can't thank you enough. Cameron has hardly stopped talking about the best day he has ever had.(his words)

2nd time you mentioned something great at the gun show, you gonna share the story :)

Being a witness to that I must say, and those who know me will certainly agree, I'm seldom at a loss for words -- but I was today.

But thinking that the other principal involved might should tell it in his way, or tell Mike to.

Well, I deserved it, I reckon. :)

At least one of the cops there was having a fine time; the black cop that was watching the back door; went by him twice and he was eating something different both times. :hat: Razzed him about that, and then told him it really was nice to see the real boys in blue back there compared to the former Gestapo, he let on that he knew about the former probs, and he was glad to be there too -- guess they're getting paid from promoter, or OT or however it works.

Glad the rent a cops are gone, they gave me huge problems at the Chilhowee park location last month and I hated that so much.

They use real Knoxville cops at Chilhowee, not the security service lookalikes. Dunno what troubles you had, but they're KPD, just like at Expo today.

So the guy driving a little white pickup in a white uniform that looked like a security guard was actually a KPD officer? He was giving me alot of grief over parking that I only parked for 5 minutes behind the building to pick up a couple of things from the vendor that I couldn't carry all out at once.

Bet the show was fun today with TCIS down all afternoon...I sat in a store for 5 hours today waiting and waiting..

I transferred two lowers yesterday around 11am and didn't have any issues. Took about ten minutes.

Those are not KPD and are probably security for Chilhowee Park but not security specifically for the show. Sounds like the same uniform as the security that caused all the problems at the Expo Center. If that is the case they may have been hassling you over loosing the Expo Center gig.

Was he a tall white haired man with a name that started with CH and that sounded italian? If so it sounds like the jerk from the Expo Center.

Generally how it works is a single representative from KPD is paid by whomever, either Expo Center or the show promoter. Then the officer pays other officers who want to and are able to work the show as a side job. They do not get paid using taxpayer dollars for side jobs like this. I do know a few years ago it was pretty good money for KCSD officers.

I bet the show promoter could advertise the next show with "Now with new security" and get a bunch more people to show back up. I know I had talked to dozens of people about the old security and the majority said they wouldn't return because of how they were treated.

That's Chilhowee Park security. They're always there regardless of what's going on. And yes, they are usually on a power trip of some sort.

I went to an expo show a couple months back and it was KPD officers. I know as I checked in with my Judge and I talked to the guy as he put the zip tie on it. I was looking for a holster that day and I found one.
