And unfortunately, Brad decided he's quitting "acting" soon to focus on producing films and worldly philanthropy. Sad. But I don't think it'll take. He's too young.

The movie version of WWZ is coming out next year starring Brad Pitt.

Dunno how there can be a star unless they're totally revamping the format. WWZ was series of vignettes from all over the world, I don't think the same character even surfaced in more than one.

Oh wait, hmmm, maybe he's the first person persona who's going around compiling all the stories, but that character (the 1st person writer) didn't do anything but listen and record, best I remember.

I was thinking the same. Really hope they don't destroy the story.

the story I've heard is that our main character goes around the world investigating and interviewing the people who were central to the individual stories.

That's the format of the book. Just don't see why they'd go with a superstar for that. You don't even notice the narrator/historian in the book, he only reports, mostly in direct long quotes of the interviewees, which I assume will be action segments rather than just talk in the movie.

"Brangelina", that's cute -- I depend on you to report the TMZ stuff. :)

I'd say he certainly believes in the 1% bucks.

Hello All,

Couldn't help but chime in being a zombie fan. Honestly can't wait for the WWZ flick but a bit bummed Brad Pitt is in it. So it goes... As far as I understand it, this film isn't really going to follow the book as an "interview/journal" kinda thing. Seems they bought the name and are basically making a zombie film with Brad Pitt as the star so us Max Brooks fans will just have to bite our tongues when we go see it (and we all know we will).

Totally agree with Jackdm3, Brad's early "retirement" just won't stick. Folks who love to be in front of the camera that much still need the "fix" regardless of what they say.

As far as good zombie stories, I'm a fan of J.L. Bourne, as mentioned above. Also, I'm just getting into Brian Keene and Rutger Klamor since a friend turned me onto them. Just recently retired I got some time on my hands (between tossing rounds at the range getting ready for the zombie invasion). I'm currently reading Klamor's "Z Strain" on my kindle (gotta love ebooks - cheap!) and, even though I'm about two-thirds done, I can't wait for the next in the series to come out (a trilogy, as usual) and highly recommend it to you guys, if you're looking for cheap entertainment between rounds.

Garufa, I LOVE the pic! Where can I get a hat like that! That alone would scare all the zombies off!

I saw 'Day by Day Armageddon' somewhere and wondered if it would be any good. I guess I need to get that one.

That is Fred Garvin, male prostitute. Actually, it is Dan Akroyd portraying his 'Fred Garvin' character. That character is from back when Saturday Night Live was still funny.

J.L. Bourne's "Day by day Armageddon." series is the shiznit!!! Better than Max Brooks IMHO

+100

I think the DBDA series along with "The Walking Dead" has pushed the genre to what it has evolved to in the last 2 years. I can't wait for DBDA3.

I downloaded WWZ from iTunes on Wednesday. I'm only 30 minutes into it so far, but it's pretty interesting. I like the format...1st hand accounts of how it was when the SHTF.

I think I'll get Day by Day Armageddon next.
