Someone screwed up obviously, but it's not like there were BODIES dumped. It was just ashes. Why didn't the families do anything with them? The landfill is pretty sorry though. It wouldn't cost much to ship the ashes up to Arlington and spread them out in a flower bed or something.

I guess because I've already made my own preparations I am galvanized to this. I'll be cremated and the guy operating the oven can sweep me up in a dust pan and toss me in the trash. I'm fairly certain I'm not going to care. One thing I don't like is the idea of being in a pot as a mantle piece somewhere.

I can see why some may be outraged but I'm not. I think burial is ridiculous. Clinging on to a corpse or the ashes thereof won't bring anyone back and does nothing to assuage the bereaved. The Airforce should be smacked upside the head for a lack of tact, but this could easily be blown out of proportion.

It's about respect. If we don't respect the men and women who have died for their country then what the hell good are we.

I agree. The Airforce ought to be beaten for the lack of respect. But I can see this getting really bad. Think riots.

Someone forgot to toss them off the boat on the trip back. How the heck did that happen. Wouldn't there have been a ceremony planned for that? So some moron screwed up.

This absolutely SHOULD be blown out of proportion. Maybe I don't care about my remains when I'm done with them, but I do expect to be treated with respect and so do my loved ones. We certainly owe that to those who died in service to this Country. I don't even condone treating enemy dead with disrespect and that's what this is here, disrespect. The people responsible for this should at a minimum lose their jobs and benefits and at a maximum should be jailed. If I had disposed of the enemy bodies of Muslims in a dump I would be sitting in Federal prison right now.

When perpetual war becomes the order of the day; the treatment of the warriors becomes "just another day at the office" and bureaucratic economics and breathtakingly stupid and insensitiive policies take over; all made by them that aint been shot at or put in harms way. I think Uncle Sam and his servants (....read that bureaucrats and 'wanna be bureaucrats", and military brass in high places ...) been doin some pretty heinous stuff. This is just another incident. Uncle Sam is lookin a whole lot more like Uncle Joe (....Joseph Stalin...) to me lately. Folks ought not to like this disrespecting of our fallen ones. Those at the top, the middle, and the bottom of this one ought to pay. People need to be outraged at this stuff.
