They have a bootcamp program for youth in prison that sets them up to take the ASVAB and enter the military. Many are from gang units/Blocks within the prisons.

Yep they have been aware of the issue for several years. At MEPS they check for tattoos but you know some don't really care what the tattoo is and some gangs get people without tats to enlist.

I know at one of the last Memphis PD graduations there was a gange fight in the acadamy because some of the graduates were flashings gange signs.

I was on a murder trial of a Gangsta Disciple and afterwards the judge commented on this type of thing. The gangs are actively seeking smart guys, clean record guys etc and send them through police academies, military, college, law school, etc so that they can have insiders and other experiences in order to promote and grow the strength of the gangs.
