I have someone that will sell me theirs. It is just getting retired. $650.00 Is it worth it for collecting at this price. I was told by a co worker they are going for 900 or so. It does have the emblem on it for patrol but was curious for opinions on the purchase.Thank you in advance for your response.

Do yo mean the commemorative edition for the THP's 75th anniversary?

I have one; very low serial number and never fired/new in the box that I bought just because I though it was a really neat piece to have but I have no idea what they are going for at the moment.

No, I'm sorry. this was a duty weapon. It says Tennessee State Trooper on the side of it. It was a live duty weapon. They are getting new one's, but they are allowed to purchase them upon retirement. These must be pretty rare, I've been looking on line and can't find much about it. I did see one on gun broker from sept 11 that said starting bid $350..but just had that it was sold. This may have been pulled due to local sale though and sold for more than the $350.00 starting price. I have not seen this gun in person yet.

So really you're paying about $250 for an emblem since former duty weapons usually go for $350-$400 on the civilian market. If you think that's worth it, go for it.

I really like the G31 and the 357Sig caliber; in fact; that's what I carry (a different one from the commemorative issue model). That said, I don't see that much "special" about a former duty weapon just because of the additional laser work compared to a stock one...I'd simply buy a new, stock G31! :)

Yep. If it's a shooter don't pay the extra money. The only way it could be worth more to you is if you or a loved one was in the THP and that meant something to you.

There was a dealer at the Hendersonville gun show a few weeks ago that had several for $485. Still a little high but not unreasonable.

Try this for what one is going for now. Not sure it is the same or not though.

HAVE A GLOCK MODEL 31 THIS WAS A STATE ISSUE ONLY 500 LIKE THIS WERE MADE. IT COMES WITH THE CASE, ALL PAPER WORK, AND THREE HI CAPACITY MAGAZINES. THIS GUN HAS BEEN SHOT VERY FEW TIMES. I WILL TAKE $550 .

I have transferred a few of them. All I will tell you is the THP officer that is trying to sell you that is making almost $300 over what he paid....

It would only be worth that to me if the pistol had been carried by a loved one. That is WAY too high.
