Sig Sauer 1911 "carry" models, "RCS" models, and "C3" models have a 4.2 inch barrel. The C3 also comes with a Crimson Trace laser. The Sig "Ultra" 1911 models come with 3.3 inch barrels.

Go with the Glock 36. To me, it's one of the best carry .45's around. I too have the G26. The G36 fits all the same holsters I have so you will not have to purchase additional holsters and you are already used to the glock trigger.

Yep. There are plenty of compact 1911 style .45s out there that are around $400 and shoot every time you pull the trigger. I fired A RIA compact and it worked fine, except a little hammer bite.

No one has mentioned the GAP versions. Since I carry a G23 I would like to transition to the G38, which shoots the GAP. I dont have a problem with acquiring ammo for it, and Ive found research that shows it does better than ACP. I know I'll take fire for this thread, as their are loyal ACPers out there. Just wondering what everyone thinks of the GAP. Do hardcore 45 auto guys feel it is a slap in the face to ole John? My reasoning is I already have alot invested in holsters for the 23, which the 38 will fit. My hands are too big for the subcompact 36 or 30 auto. I have a Wilson and an Ed, but would never carry them.

There is a reason no one mentiones the GAP. It has all but gone away. AFAIK only glock makes pistols chambered for it anymore, and most times if you find them for sale in a gun shop or anywhere else you can get a good deal on them but many people dont want them. Ammo may be available but its nowhere near as available or common as ACP.

Performance may match standard pressure ACP but it cant beat .45ACP+P.

If it works for you great, just stock up on ammo.

I dont think anyone considers it a slap to JMB since there arent any 1911s chanbered in it and gap isnt exactly stealing the market from acp.

The 38 is not the same size as the 23. The grip is the same but the slide is as thick as the 30 which is the biggest complaint I have on the 30. Some holsters will interchange and some will not.

I have a glock 36,30,kimber ultra carry,kahr pm45 they will all get the job done but the kahr is the best to carry by far.It is lighter,smaller and has as good or better trigger than any of the others. I carry all the time (where legal)so i have learned that if it isn't comfy you might leave it at home,most of the time i really don't know its there.I carry in a belt slide that was made by a friend, with an untucked shirt.
