Fort Knox door vs browning door vs Winchester door

Fort Knox Defender

fact 10 gauge outer skin with a solid 1/4 plate on the inside with a replaceable hard plate

Browning Door Medallion

fact 12 gauge outer skin with a 10 gauge plate on the inside with a hard plate welded to it

Winchester Door Ranger

fact 12 gauge outer skin with a small mid section that hold lock and hard plate and handle in place

Whats that old saying you get what you pay for

made correction was not gold

Daryl,

The Medallion has a 10 gauge outer and 12 gauge inner, just measured the steel on a door cut away that I made out of a damaged Medallion.

Stolen from Garufa's sig line...

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." - unknown Texas A & M student

If you would like me to take a picture of the door that I cut apart on a Browning Medallion M39F and show you the difference in the metal thickness I would be happy to , you can see that the outer layer of metal is thicker that the inner. Not trying to get in a back in forth but I have the cut away from a actual safe, not a factory demo.

I'm yawning as I type this because we are going back and forth about this and all I'm saying is the Browning Medallion M39F that I had from a warranty replacement, I cut the door apart for a demo display and the metal thickness that I measured on the door is a 10 guage outer shell with a 12 gauge inner liner. When Prosteel opens after Christmas I will call the head design engineer and verify what the safes in current production (past 6 months) are using on the door. Can't say this any clearer than this, If any one would like to drop by my showroom I would be happy to show them this cut away so they can verify that what I'm saying is correct.

Happy New Year:usa:

Okay, Prosteel is closed for the week but I get an answer Monday the 2nd,

Well the verdict is in, the design of the Medallion door changed in 2008 and drum roll please................ the outer layer of metal is 12 guage and inner layer is 10 guage , the engineer said it makes the door stronger with the heavier metal on the inner part of the door.

So Daryl you were correct about the metal thickness on the door

Happy New Year.
