3 Squirrels in my attic! I need some advice.

Get a box of .22 CB's. They are quieter than a BB or air rifle. They will penetrate a 2 ltr. coke bottle full of water, but will bounce off of a 2x4 or plywood.

In a rifle, they are so quite that birds (starlings) will not even fly. In a pistol they are louder.

1 Don't shoot or kill them in the house

2 What Mike said or a trap

3 What Memphis said. I have had 2 instances where they are hoses, including the fuel line, off of vehicles. I found a nest in the bumper of my truck which isn't driven much and also on top of the gas tank.

4 By coincidence one of my employees just had to deal with it. The "Critter Getter" that she called put a strobe light in her attic and the squirrels left. She left it there and if they come she just turns it on.

Maybe you could make a one way door of some kind where they are getting into the attic.

packingheat, can you expand on this a little? I just got a visual of a door small enough that only a squirrel can get in with a little door knob and a little welcome mat out front. I'm wondering what the "gotcha" moment is for the squirrel. I suppose once they are used to getting in through the door, you remove the welcome mat and turn the deadbolt on the door. They can't get in anymore because they no longer remember how to get in without using the door? might work... I think I saw this once on an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies. Jethro was coming up with a way to keep the squirrels out of his vittles....:slap:

Knit three little sweaters, name one of them Al...er...Arvin and teach them to sing. Get them a recording contract, go on tour and take a cut of the profits. If chipmunks can do it, I don't see why squirrels can't.

Seriously, though, I'd probably go live traps. Just be careful in 'relocating' them as the TWRA officer we contacted about doing so with raccoons that were getting in the garden said that doing so is illegal (I think that applies to all wild animals, not just raccoons.) His advice was to live trap and then shoot them. Of course, in this case I guess you could seal up the hole where they are getting in then trap any that are still inside. Then you could probably just let them go outside in the yard and not worry about them getting back in - or you could take them out and then, well, take them out. Your call.
