Me choosing to purchase a bond, insurance, or self insuring my business is great, I personally like insurance... The government requiring insurance or a bond is a form of corporate welfare... it costs money and only government approved insurance companies or bond companies can provide you those products... and there is a cost related to that government mandated insurance.

I think customers who need protective services are smart enough to look for somebody with more training than the person you're using as an example. Why do we need the government pre-screening for us? I'm not able to check to make sure the security person/company I hire has insurance and what I consider proper training?

There maybe a market for low cost armed security... as long as the security guard doesn't commit fraud, why can't I as an informed consumer choose who I'm going to hire to perform my security?

Yeah I know around here shocking I'm a big enough boy to pay my taxes and carry a firearm, but I need the government telling me who can and can't cut my hair? Install my carpet? Heal my broken arm? Defend me in court? Drive me to the airport?

It's all a big corporate welfare program, to create barriers from entering the free market, to pad the pockets of a select few, etc... There is very little we need the government to do for us in our day to day lives.

But, hey it's ok The government is our friend (not).

I'd probably do it. It's most likely a 99.9% chance that nothing would happen to begin with. If it did, it's just a couple of friends out shopping and one just happens to have a carry permit. I would not do it for hire.

First off it's a bad idea and not worth it. The trick is not even making it sound like shes hired you as security. She's hired you as a driver or as a servant. I know Cops that moonlight as security offduty outside there juristriction and take a huge gamble and most say they are only there as a consultants. Police even in there Juristriction should pay the fees to work offduty. Except some of the Fed Contract security the industry is terrible with lots of people looking for work. I know a guy with uniforms, weapon all that license and insured as a buisness that works for min wage to have something fairly regularly.

Or agree to do joint Christmas shopping. As stated earlier, just two people shopping together and one happens to have a HCP. No official contracts, but maybe she gets you a gift card, or some of your gift purchases end up on her credit card, or she brings along a couple of boxes of ammo, or (being sexist here), bakes you some brownies.
