I hope the officer that was shot fully recovers, and I am glad they got the perp. I sometimes wish in cases where there is no doubt to the guilt of an individual we could streamline the process of getting them off the street.

That article was hard to read. I don't know if it was the format or the word usage. Good God.

They should have shot him in the field.

I guesse that would be streamlined....;)

Yeah kinda hard to read.

If they shot him in the field i bet there would have been a lot less paperwork, waiting on the justice system, and the story would have been condensed.

But the clean-up, that could have been messy.

I hope he never gets out, anyone mean enough to shoot at someone else (especially an officer) has proven that they are extremely dangerous.

The article mentioned one of the charges is "possession of a firearm" so does that mean he's a convicted felon? The only firearm mentioned ("an assault rifle") isn't illegal itself.

pfries,

In Virginia, Thomas Jefferson tried to get the legislature to pass a law that would have meted out punishment within 7 days, even in death penalty cases. The only variation he allowed for was, no hangings on Sunday's. Hold them until Monday, then hang them. Unfortunately, even Jefferson couldn't get that law passed.

that's called AP Style Journalism writing format, and I'll tell you what, it sucks to write it, and it equally sucks to read it. I feel insulted every time I have to read a CNN news article or a Fox News article, because of how dumbed down delivering the news to the masses has become. I feel as if the writer is talking to a 3rd grader, and that's pretty sad when you consider that the AP thinks that articles and columns need to be dumbed down that much for the general population to be able to understand...very scary thought.

Why especially an officer?
