That's silly, I'll just buy billboards throughout the state that proclaim "Orange is not the state color"

It has been forever since a national champ has had a perfect season. Many have had multiple losses.

How'd that game against Texas fair for UTK? Or Vandy? (Any takers for Arkansas or Kentucky, bless their little hearts)

I maintain that the true University of Tennessee was in the state's capitol until it was merged with TSU by court order (1979).

Much is true of Texas - their UT has its campus in the state's capitol city.

<This was a tongue-in-cheek post and must not be construed as more than simple ribbing.>

I don't get the bumper sticker idea. What do the numbers 66 and 62 represent?

the score in the only game Memphis lost this year.

Indiana was the last to go undefeated and win the championship ('76), Bobby Knight was coaching. Tar Heels did it in '57. Before them San Fran did it in '56.

There have only been a handful of other undefeated's to even make the tourny.

Indiana State University (my grad school alma mater) lost only one game in 1979- it was the last game, the championship. Indiana State (and Larry Bird) lost to Michigan State (and Magic Johnson). It was still a great year, despite the disappointing loss.

I'll be watching the game tonight with 1,000 of my closest friends- they are setting up a game watching party at the Fieldhouse on the U of M campus with projection screens, etc. Should be a rush.

Good luck to them. The Jayhawks looked really impressive in the opening half the other night but then Memphis looked good through out the game. Some one taught them to perform a free throw.

this did not end well for yall.

I did not watch but I did flick back and forth to keep up with the score.

Did Memphis just choke on it? Thats my impression from just score watching until i went to bed with a the regulation time almost over.

It was a close game the whole time. Rose was not shooting very well, and we had it won in regulation but chose not to foul - allowing them a 3pt opportunity.

Ok why didn't they foul KS in the last few seconds in regulation, instead of letting the guy shoot for 3?? Had they done that, they'd have the game sewn up. Even if KS made the two foul shots, we were 3 up at the time.

And that wasn't a question that I really want answered (since none of us know). Was just venting.

That will probably be the tigers last run for a least a year or two. Dorsey is leaving, and Rose will probably be out of their for the pros. CDR might stay for his senior year, but I wouldn't if I was him. They played a good game, just not good enough. Congrats to the Jayhawks!

if time was all but over and they didn't foul it has to be one of two things. Either they could not get a hnd on the guy to foul him or the coach blew it. I am thinking the coach screwed up.

Au Contraire Bonjour,

Helmsman this morning: Tried to foul - Calipari was screaming for a foul, it was a no call. Rose attempted to tackle the guy even.

Rose hit him, but not hard enough for the officials to call it. Should have clocked him. Coach Cal should have done a few things different before the game was over. Like a time out, calm them down and tell them what to do. The style of offense is to let them play, not really "set" plays. It works for the most part, but Cal screwed up by not planning out the last few minutes. Before Kansas go the ball on the last play of regulation, Cal should have called a TO and told them to tackle whoever had the ball. Two free throws, game over, Memphis would be the National Champion.

CDR gone. Rose Gone. Dorsey is gone by being a Senior. They had a great year, they had a great run, they had a great chance, just came up a little short, a few missed free throws and an assault err I mean foul, the outcome could have been different. O well, congrats for a great year, it was fun to watch.
