What is the deal that Corzine ain't in jail yet? Or at least in "protective custody"?

Lester, one thing that I've learned in the years I've spent in my career is that while everyone is entitled to due process, when you've got a lot of money, you get a lot more "'due proess". When I worked the Enron case, I passed Jeff Skilling on a running trail in Houston almost every day for two years. It was infuriating.

It's unfortunate, but I think there are more specific dangers for the rest of us in trying to rush the process.

He'll get his sooner or later.

He is suppose to appear in front of Congress in Dec. May get some answers then, but more likely he will take the 5th. Will connected get special treatment.

Its really neat you got to be involved with 9/11 cleanup and also Enron investigation. Interesting times.

I'm speaking from habitual woeful ignorance. Enron was a scam alright, but on the other hand it conned stockholders and employees, along with various energy market manipulations. If a person buys stock or enters into a commodities transaction then it is sad to get conned, but on the other hand people should know they can lose invested money.

Supposedly a lot of the missing MF Global money was uncommitted deposits waiting to be allocated by investors. It seems more "unexpected" that un-allocated cash accounts would vanish. If you go to Vegas and gamble all yer money away then that is one thing. But if the casino just steals all yer chips before you get a chance to lose them "fair and square", then that seems another thing altogether!

I agree about due process and all that, but if a few thousand bucks came up unexplained missing on the watch of a bilo employee, or if a bunch of diamonds walked out of the jewelry store the same time a sales clerk clocked out, then such employee might get free room and board for awhile or at least have to post bail until lost assets are recovered?

Possibly as much as 2 billion missing cash seems more serious than a few thousand missing out of the Walmart night pickup or whatever?

In year preceeding and the four years following September 11, 2001, I probably spent a combined total of three weeks at home. Looking back on those times, I'm thankful for the experience, but wouldn't want to do it again. It's what gave me both the capital and the voice to start my own firm, but it's also the reason we turn down cases that required that much travel. There's stuff that's more important.

Houston, incidentally is the worst city in the Union.

I've only driven thru Houston a few times on the way somewhere else, some years ago. The hiway traffic thru Houston seemed even more insane than Atlanta. Every time was driving a van nearly sitting on the axles loaded with music equipment. Not a maneuverable vehicle and I ain't a good driver anyway. Numerous aggressive fast drivers apparently determined to run me off the road. Cadillacs and lincolns with giant steerhorns for hood ornaments. Think I saw more Steerhorn Cadillacs just passing thru Houston, than the rest of the state combined.

Then again, maybe its tame compared to LA hiway traffic. LA traffic is disturbing.
